The Survival Mom : Prepare for the Unthinkable with Doomer Lit

How about the Change series, Dies the Fire, The Protector's War, Meeting at Corvallis etc. by S. M. Sterling and it's counter taking place on the East Coast Islands in the Sea of Time etc. Not much survival information but it's the series that got me moving on this path.

Big Government : California Moves Closer Toward Default

Rich liberals (such as those who live in Nancy Pelosi's Marin County, in the bay area and in West Los Angeles); state and municipal workers (who vote Democrat in as direct a pay-for-vote scheme as a law-based society allows); those who rely on state and city governments for entitlements; and those Latinos who either fall into the last category or who unfortunately identify the Republican Party with anti-Latino sentiments because it opposes illegal immigration are Dem voters in CA. Can't do much about the rich idiots but the others..... Those who believe in individual responsibility, the free market and personal liberty are a minority in California we have to change that dynamic.

This solution simply will not happen; the distraction in the attempt will only prolong the agony. Lets simply speak louder than the loons. The six major Democratic counties — Alameda (78%), Contra Costa (68%), Los Angeles (63%), Sacramento (58%), San Francisco, Santa Clara (69%) — all backed Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer by significant margins. Boxer took 80 percent of the black vote, 66 percent of the Latino vote and 58 percent of the Asian vote. This is our demographic, where we need to work. We must first find out why these minorities voted the way they did, then do something to change their minds.

Cycle, I think the people on the Left are responding from an emotional level, they simply regurgitate talking points little understanding the realities of their sacred policies. Soon these realities are going to touch everyone here in CA, the welfare queens who feel it is their due, the illegals who reap reward for being criminals, the silly libs who walk lockstep behind the ideologically constipated politicians over the cliff. As we continue to sink those of us with common sense, who understand reality need to step up and lead. The philosophy of "the hundreth monkey" will become operational...."When a critical point of mass behavior (return to common sense) is adopted by one segment of society, it is spread to all other aspects of the society...." If you ride you already have the mindset but just in case do you really care that a LIB thinks you are evil, a racist, a homophobe, or whatever cutism is their latest Alinsky technique?

What good would a wall do? It's not like the silly liberal philosophy running US into the ground isn't anywhere else. Can we say WA, DC, HI, IL, NJ?? Can we say elected BHO? Lets all choose a side, tax and spend or smaller govt/personal responsibility etc and defend/support it no matter where we live.

It's OK Kool just remember how German Pastor Martin Niemöller (1946) put it: When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist. When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I wasn't a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out. The Lib attempt to impose it's feel good, emotion based nonsense social experiment has obviously failed. Unfortunately each state is going to have to come to the realization and choose a direction. So when "they" come for Mr Golden, and "they" will, who will stand with him? We will of course cause thats who we are but maybe he will get the idea here that we need EVERY thoughtful voice to support us in this social battle for common sense reform.

Holy cow now I'm getting scared. We live in the SD area, have rather rural property for BO. Check out http://survivalcache.com. Citizens and tax payers of CALI we've GOT to do something, stand up, speak out, write/email and let those in Sac know where we stand and that they won't last long if they don't change their ways. Yep it's gonna take time but it's taken time to slip down this slippery slope too. It is sad to see people moving out rather than staying and fighting but I understand there are also economic realities. Can you imagine if politician, especially the libs, started getting mountains of letters/emails from constituents demanding fiduciary restraint and common sense solutions. How many would need to be booted out before the rest sat up and took notice that just like on the Federal stage with the Tea Party CA has had enough.

Hang in there lady and Sucks we will make it, by the skin of our teeth but I'm confident the common sense people of CALI will prevail. OK I'm not sure how, and I know I get the Pollyanna award of the year but I think soon even those who've been recipients of CA govt, i.e. tax payer, largess will be hit, and hard, by economic reality and they will turn away from those they perceive have hurt them. The Dems/unions/SF loons etc. will go down in a blaze of liberal angst.

Big Government : Long Hot Summer Begins: Congressman Attacks Student

Hi Cog, so how do you feel about the fact that the Congressman IS in fact our employee and has been asked, by an employer, his opinion on something he has power to vote on and instead of answering he pushes, shoves, and refuses to answer? Would you, if you were/are a boss or would your boss tolerate such behavior? We tend to forget these arrogant, condescending cretins are nothing more than OUR employees and subject to We The People, their employers.

Cog I don't mean to belabor the point but I think the fine points are where the discussion is. Under the United States Code Title 18 Subsection 1514(c)1. "Harassment" is defined as "a course of conduct directed at a specific person that causes substantial emotional distress in such a person and serves no legitimate purpose". With this in mind where do you see the "substantial emotional distress" this Congressman endured? The "legitimate purpose" seems obvious to me, he is a public servant, sworn to uphold the Constitution and " well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God." Thank you for the intelligent reasoned discussion too sir.

I agree AJ it sure makes the old guy look bad to be that defensive, and to have the arrogance to assault someone much younger who could have in all reality decked him. I am really proud of those students. They went the way of the Repubs not the Dimmys.

Hey Cog that "federally elected offcial" is an employee. When his boss asks him a question he should gladly reply not physically assault. As to the "get in their way" what about public sidewalk are you having trouble with? The arrogant bast*&d could have walked around OR more appropriately stopped, smiled, thanked his constituent for the question, AND ANSWERED IT!

Rather than a knee jerk "it's all the insurance industries fault" (a red herring the administration wants you to take to obfuscate the real issue) response why don't we consider who makes the insurance companies file all those forms? GOVERNMENTAL mandate!! The system is certainly broken, but how about we allow the economy, personal responsibility, freedom, capitalism i.e. the American way to fix it rather than more government intrusion.

Bob take a breath. Everyone who pays for their insurance pays for the uninsured, there...ok. I'm an ER RN, have been for 30 yrs. I've lived with the ever increasing GOVERNMENTAL regulations on health care which cause the costs to sky rocket. I know it's not quite that simple but comes very close. Who is it won't allow ins. co. to sell across state lines? Who is it who demands we abide by JACHO regulations or they will pull funding? Who is is allows ambulance chasers to sue for what ever they feel like at the moment causing us to over treat to cover our collective behinds? Think about it. How does governmental intrusion in YOUR personal/professional life increase cost/work load etc. This is not a partisan issue.

I think BO's diagnosis would be more like Narcissictic Personality Disorder; "an all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behaviour), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts".

You know that old adage about power corrupting and absolute power corrupting absolutely? Well thats whats happened. Even the best of people can be tempted by the power/perks these bozos vote for themselves. Thats why they don't listen. They've lost ALL contact with the reality we all live in. Well come Nov they will be in contact cause many of them will be looking for jobs. And I will bet the ones left will be paying much more attention to the will of their employers.

Amen brother. I find it really interesting and rather amazing how Americans of all stripes have come together to oppose more and more of what this administration is trying to do. Gives me great hope for our future. I've wondered just how many of these congress-cretins will have to lose their cushy jobs in Nov before the rest sit up and pay attention. The elections in Va/Nj/Ma recently gave some indication. Now We The People must keep the pressure on.....vote!
