Big Hollywood : Anne Rice: Follower of Christ Quits Christianity ... On Facebook

Not a big surprise. "Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads unto life" It's a hard thing, true Christianity. Not everyone can take the hits demanded of such a relationship.

Big Hollywood : America Loves Stallone and Stallone Loves America

There is only one sin in Hollywood..and that is not making money. The studios are obligated to release good films (read: movies that have actually appeal to the guy that buys the ticket) in order to pay for their bombs of political-preaching films. But I think Sly is right. The movie business is cyclical. Less political than economic driven; the studios can afford to lose only so much money before they have to produce something that people want to see. You'd think they'd get that by now, but *shrug* people in Hollywood are convinced that they're smarter than you. And Hollywood clings to that premise only because the truth is much too painful for them to bear.

Big Hollywood : Film Review: Everything Wrong with Hollywood Can Be Summed Up with the Word 'Predators'

Personally I'm skipping "Predators" just on principal. Rodriguez made his racist rant of a movie with "Machete" and has so earned himself (and the entire cast of "Machete") a five year ban from my wallet (and I actually do keep my boycotts). But I do see the point as examined here. The action has gone out of the action hero in favor of 'pretty'. I can't decide if this is an effort to appeal more to the female market (which is not the action movie's principle demographic) or if the casting directors union has a secret new rule of hiring only metro-sexuals. I trace it all back to Pierce Brosnon as 007. From there on, it seems that the hero was no longer to be rugged, but 'pretty'. Then again, to expect the current Hollywood machine to do much of anything correctly (especially come up with something original) is really asking too much of optimism.
