Most people are middle and lower middle class, but some are upwardly mobile young professionals and some are new immigrants from Mexico. So we have some who are well paid, and some who are struggling. Overall, the neighborhood is majority Spanish -- Puerto Rican and Domincan -- but everyone is represented. Black people, Indian women in saris. Somehow we live in peace, mostly. It's a live and let live mood on the streets, and I've lived here and liked it for 28 years. As gay men living together, my partner and I have never been harassed. We've only heard some people say to our neighbors, in Spanish, "how can you live next door to those ------" And our neighbors have, quite rightly, told them that they should mind their own business.
