It's basically the same as with Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, it was a significant enough event that they don't want people forgetting it. 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it' and all that. Neither one is technically a holiday though.

There's some that are pretty informative and can be used as an alternative to a walkthrough. I'm not a huge fan of blind LPs though, except when it comes to The Witch's House for some reason...

I don't think that's true. We've never really had a background ponies episode before, a lot of people are interested to see what they do with it.
