Dubya was not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination. The only thing he did that could arguably be called "conservative" was lower taxes a tiny bit. JFK was far more conservative than Dubya. Bush ushered in an era of government growth that would have made Castro proud. Please stop using Republican and Conservative in the same sentence. However, "true" conservatives - meaning those of us who believe in limited government - have always been cool. The Left USED to believe in that, but now embrace big, bloated intrusive government in a way that would have made their younger selves gasp in disbelief. They wanted to "stick it to the man" until they became the man. True conservatives realize that you always have to be careful of "the man" including your own inner one.
