Great take Caitlin right on although I don't completely buy your last paragraph. There are a lot of reasons why more people arn't activists so I wouldn't tar them all with the same brush.
The underlying emotional causes of the anti China propaganda is pure racism. The Yellow Peril and all that.
Thanks for this...yeah, the crumbling infrastructure problem is an increasing problem in Canada were I live. The road surfaces in Toronto are like from the 19th century and public transportation is a nightmare. Same with education and health structures. Big problem is that corporate taxes have dropped from 30% in the fifties when most of the infrastructure was built and because politicians and a large % of property owners don't want their taxes to do up.
Yes you're right...I wasn't paying attention. I did get the point Tom was making that Russia was in the best position to say no to reducing oil output the Suadis and the US = others wanted...which is a good thing I guess even though we don't need to be burning more fossil fuels these days. I would like know what is meant by the marginal cost of a new barrel of oil and would like to know more about Luongo. Tom Feeley usually has a brief description of the writer in most articles I've read from ICH...which I think is the best site in the US for alternative news. I read it faithfully every time it's out:)
What VLCCS? and why would Russia have better equipment than the Saudi's given how much $$$ they have and how dependent they are on oil?
OK so I checked that out...Russia has 147 million while Saudi has 32 million so Russia's population is about 5 times as big;)
It was a bit strange to read that Russia can produce a barrel of oil for $20 while for the Saudi's it coast $80? How is that possible given the short supply lines that the Saudis have as well as a very small population while Russia has to transport oil thousands of miles to market and probably has 10 times the population?
And who is the author of this piece...there's no description of who he is. And what 'meeting' is he talking about where Russia is supposed to have said no? And who is the 'he' in the first para of the quote? Very disappointed in this piece which contains important information that is inexplicable to me;(
This is very much an insider article for people who are aware and knowledgable about the markets. The 'marginal' cost of a barrel of oil? What on earth does that mean? And how is it significant? Too much was left out or only hinted at for a layman like myself to make much sense out of it other than Russia is in a good position to make its enemies suffer financially...I guess.
Important article...one I have never seen before. Good thing the writer appears to be Jewish. If a Gentile had written this there would be a huge hue. He's clearly a 'self-hating' Jew;)
Looking forward to his follow-up essay...maybe he'll have some suggestions about what to do about the huge anti-semitism/Judeophilia conundrum. Wish he'd been a little clearer about his sources though. Of the four, only one is correctly sited. I suspect the others are from JT but it's unclear...so feels a little sketchy;) Feels like he is quoting from something JT has written but not sure of course.
It's not only the military that is 'afraid' according to the linked article headlines. Most people in the US are afraid, a fear cultivated by the military to keep the population supporting their annual budget increases...to protect them.
