HGTV Design Star : Dan is Your Favorite Designer!

We can get over it at our own rate, but you're the one who seems to be freaking out if you HAVE TO TYPE LIKE THIS to get your point across. And I'll agree with you - of course looks aren't everything. But where has Antonio's talent come into play? When he failed to grasp the meaning of the white room challenge, or when he used flammable material to make up a fireplace? And what about charisma? Are you talking about the way he uses re-con in every other sentence, or the way he calls women 'chicks'?

'I don't know a soul who preferred you to Antonio.' Have you been reading these blogs at all? I'd say at least 80% of these bloggers aren't happy with the decision to give Antonio a show instead of Dan.

And just to explain how they made Dan look like the bad guy... Dan later lowered the pergola price to $5,500, but they didn't show it. Yeah, it still wasn't a great deal, but it was a lot better than $10,600. And you also have to keep in mind that Antonio was with him every step of the way, except at the signing.

What I don't understand is that if they're going for youth, wouldn't they go with the younger designer? It's really annoying to me that Antonio is considered more for 'this generation', because I don't find that to be true at all. Trashy isn't how I want my grandkids to know this generation as. I'd much rather have Dan, who is a younger designer. By over a decade.

Trust me, it didn't look better on TV. I thought that overall, the Antonio Project was done poorly. Sure, it's his house, but he knew that people would judge him based off of this one episode. =/ Sadly, I think that he lost a lot of viewers just because he had to keep 'Sombrero Girl' above his bed.

I'd say jealous. Or it makes him even more competitive. It felt to me as though he felt both towards Dan, just because he knew that Dan was going to be competition after that white room challenge. And then I'd say he felt kind of jealous (due to his remarks) during the yard challenge when Dan took off his shirt. =( I kind of feel bad for Antonio, knowing that most of the viewers would have preferred the more traditional Dan.

It really does upset me that people automatically assume that young, good-looking men who design are gay. I just don't get it - it's almost like saying that everybody who likes Antonio is covered in tattoos. Stereotypes are annoying.

I don't think the clients liked Antonio's house very much. The husband looked just shy of horrified. And why does everybody add a 'T' to the end of David's last name? It's just Bromstad.

Yes, yes, his designs might be 'exciting', but I wouldn't go so far as to call Antonio's designs 'efficient and done right'. Did you watch the last challenge? First of all, even Candice was afraid of that 'fireplace' catching the whole house on fire. How's putting a wooden cabinet above fire considered 'done right'? And the chairs were low and looked like they'd be hard to get out of. Then, in the kids' room, he managed to give the mother a good test of endurance: to see how long she could hold out sitting on that box to read to her kid. And then he went ahead and ripped out the sinks in the master bedroom, changing it from two to one! That was terrible! The husband looked like he was about to cry! Definitely not what comes to my mind when I think of 'efficient and done right'. In that last challenge, Dan's rooms were smaller and he still managed to put more use to the space. I'm pretty sure he 'knew what he was doing and how to get it done'.

That request reminds me of Design Star Season 2 when Will had to design a room for a handicapped teenager, and their family also didn't want it to look like a handicap room. It turned out really nice, and it was a shame that he got out on that episode. =(

I find it kind of surprising that Dan's doing kids' rooms and David's doing adult's rooms! I would have imagined it the other way around, but I'm sure Dan will do fine. =) He's already shown that he can pull of a fantastic teenage girl's room, a beautiful nursery/guestroom, and a crazy kid's room.

Ha ha, I'm so excited now! =) Kids' rooms... Ah. You don't see many designers on HGTV that take up this challenge. I really hope that the video programming stuff is better, though, once your real show goes up. These lags are 'killing my buzz'!

HGTV Design Star : Chat Live With Antonio

Antonio's wasn't my design preference, but it's good to see that somebody liked it! =) I just don't think it's very functional. The kitchen was beautiful and functional, but I think that's where the functionality stops. I almost want to say that putting a wooden cabinet above a fireplace is against safety codes. Not sure, though. And I personally didn't like the chairs very much! Ha ha, but I guess that's more of a design preference (though I do wonder if they're hard to get out of). And in the kids' room, I wish he had given the boy a twin-sized bed or something! That little boy will grow out of that tiny one soon, I'm sure. Antonio also didn't give the mom a proper chair or sofa, which would be big on my list. I have to admit that the master bedroom was functional enough, though. My big problem was the fact that he took out two sinks and only put in one, but other than that, I'd say that his big, structural changes were good. Phew. Ha ha, so that's my list of problems I really had with Antonio's space. Other than that, I thought it was functional enough. =) Again, I thought he did a good job on the kitchen.
