National Motorists Association Blog : Guilty in Ohio: Speeding Convictions by the Art of Observation

You can piss, moan, sign petitions, demonstrate - whatever. You can't overcome the money being made. Only if Traffic Judges/Cops and Politicians began turning up dead with notes pinned to their bodies saying `No More´, would anyone begin listening - but who's going to do that? And even if this did happen, the State probably would only assign body guards to the Judges and Politicians and armored cars to everyone.

National Motorists Association Blog : New Auto Safety Bill Could Triple Cost Of Black Boxes

Since there is no Privacy Protection in the United States, it really makes no difference who owns the Box or if a Court Order would be required to access its information. Laws would be passed or exceptions would be made to circumvent whatever obstacles stand in the way of money. Anyone who thinks otherwise should ask himself why the Insurance Industry has access to an individual's Driving Record - an act totally illegal where I live.

National Motorists Association Blog : Florida Governor Crist, Are You Paying Attention?

There are ways around the cameras but probably nothing anyone here is willing to do. I spent a little over 6 weeks in the States last year and was photographed 2 times which I know of. This makes a total of 6 times I have been flashed for Speed in the past 3 years.

National Motorists Association Blog : Fast Driver? There's An App For That

If this idea could be applied to a portable navigational device's Points Of Interest, it seems it would be more practical and user friendly. Speed Camera Data Base does something like this with fixed cameras but can't address the bigger threat in North America which is the radar guns mounted to the dashboards and/or rear package trays of moving vehicles.

National Motorists Association Blog : 58% Of People Who Fought Traffic Tickets In Washington D.C. Won

What I don't get is that people are not up-in-arms over the fact that the Government allows personal driving records to be accessed by non-goverment agencies. In Mexico and Germany, this is a privacy issue and is illegal. It's a great scam though. The Government requires US drivers to have insurance and then allows the Insurance Companies to charge what they want. Another example of the corruption in the US Traffic Enforcement System.

National Motorists Association Blog : Due Process Is A Right, Right?

It's articles like this which make me thankful I live in the Land(s) of The Free instead of the United States. Whether it is by law or the laissez-faire attitude of the people regarding their laws, I am protected from the bend-over-and-take-it-without-a-kiss trash which is increasingly destroying the Quality of Life in the USA.

National Motorists Association Blog : What Makes Someone A Bad Driver?

The IHS has a vested interest in Speed Limits. First they claimed 25% of all accidents were caused by Speed. Next it was 30%. Now it's edging toward 35%. Running a Stop Sign while drunk and driving over the Speed Limit does not mean speed was the culprit if a crash occurs - except when someone who is representing an industry's financial interest is compiling the statistics. Studies in Canada, Florida and California have shown that accidents causes by driving too fast for conditions (not necessarily over a given Limit) were from 1,5-6% of all crashes. I remember the report done in California, which was released after the US National Speed Limit was repealed, saying that, even though 6% of accidents were the result of driving too fast, 76% (I think it was 76% but not positive) of all tickets written by the Highway Patrol were for driving over a Speed Limit. Of course, the State also has a monetary interest in Speed Limits.

National Motorists Association Blog : What Makes Someone A Bad Driver?

To raise your driving IQ a few points above my dead Uncle, let me give you two examples of what Nevada does regarding citations for Driving Too Fast For Conditions (DTFFC). A former co-worker was ticketed for DTFFC when he banged into the car in front of him during Stop & Go Traffic. He should have been stopped. A woman driving her huge SUV ran a Stop Sign while talking on her cellular phone, hit a car and killed both occupants. Among other things, she was cited for DTFFC because she should have stopped. These bogus violations were added to the accidents caused by DTFFC statistics which are used to justify the increasing use of Speed Traps everywhere in the State BUT Intersections. Of course, this was a few years ago. I'm sure Nevada is more honest now.

The California Stop is a result of a Stop Sign installed where a Yield Sign would work. In no other Country have I seen Stop Signs used to such needless excess as in the US. On the streets I have driven in Europe, I have NEVER seen an intersection with a 4-Way Stop Sign system. There, they either have Traffic Circles or Traffic Lights with Stop or Yield Signs. The Signs take precedence when the Lights are not needed and turned off. My Mother lives in Las Vegas which has a ridiculous amount of Stop Signs (as well asTraffic Lights burning 24 hrs a day). Because of this, her 100PS Diesel Golf uses more fuel than my 115PS Gasoline Audi in Germany.

As usual. You diminish your credibility by making statements about things you think you understand. I am far from being rich and I never said I was at the cheapest Insurance Rate - the lowest rate is 30%. Of course, you knew that. You know everything except for the fact I DO vote. Here IS a place to complain about the Government because it is the one which is scamming motorists out of Billions of dollars. This may be OK for those with their noses shoulder-deep up their Ruler's asses but for some it isn't.

Unfortunately, my Pension is based on US Dollars so I do have a vested interest in what your lousy politicians are doing. If you think what is happening in the United States is OK, then you have obviously lost the power of Reason. We have a friend from Cuba who says there are a lot of Cuban Citizens who think things are just great in their country.

Thanks to the reckless spending which has gone on the past 10 years, there are few options other than much higher Fuel Taxes AND a national Value Added Tax. Not wanting to lose their Royalty Status though, the Politicians will cater to the public and do nothing - or maybe raise taxes on the well-off who are already paying the vast majority of the taxes now. What's going to happen when the Chinese or anyone else no longer want the increasingly devalued US Dollar as repayment for their loans? The Interest Rate is raised to a high enough point where the Creditor is satisfied with his return or he is paid in property. So, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon in exchange for Health Care, the Iraq war and Farm Subsidies or Jimmy Carter era Interest Rates?

The United States doesn't want to fund its programs and the Highway Trust Fund is just another example. Raising the Fuel Tax to a level more in line with other Oil Importing Countries would solve the problems those self-serving whores in Government are attemping to remedy through restrictions and regulation. What's next? Uncle Sam dropping to his knees with his mouth open asking China to also finance the roads? China is already deciding US Policy to a limited degree which is why their currency is still pegged to the US Dollar.

National Motorists Association Blog : Speed Limits: It's 1974 All Over Again!

You don’t need 6 boats. You don’t need one - nor do you need to go skiing on the water or the snow. Every time you travel to a lake or the mountains, you are exposing yourself to a possible traffic accident. Since it has already been established slower drivers have more accidents, a possible collision involving you is much greater than with me. I suggest, when you reach puberty, you have a vasectomy. You’re a perfect example of why the United States is in desperate need of cleansing its Gene Pool.
