I wasn't a fan of anything. And since I can only put a lot of effort into something, if I have one thing to focus on -- and since I didn't have one particular thing which interested me more than others, as a consequence I didn't put effort into anything. But now ponies? For the first time I saw myself as a full-fledged fan of something - I didn't merely LIKE the show. And then BOOM: merely three months after I became a brony, I immediately ( <-- not literally) created a mathy fanstuff which thousands of other brony geeks enjoyed -- and then a few more in the following months/years.

Other fans, a lot more than the show itself, made me happy. I didn't actually see anything odd in a sugary show having this quality. But the scale of the fandom itself, full of so many awesome artists -- now THAT was inspiring. :)

Once. I stop the video every few seconds and mark starts and ends of each pony's visibility on screen.

With secondary characters it doesn't take THAT long, but with the Mane 6 it could take me more than 2 hours (maybe even almost 3?) to analyze a single episode.

From this it can be calculated which ponies spend most time together, and deduce most probable shipping pairs... assuming if they were not hetero, of course. (Such calculations can be found in seasons 1-3 analysis for example.)
