You're very right. When I first began, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't give it much thought at first, but I had read many things and got the strange feeling that what I had found was much more than it appeared to be. I watched, and found more than I had ever imagined. Now, looking back, and it has been something I've been feeling for a while now, I can see that I, as well as others, have been a bit too critical and analytical when it comes to the show. I have been making earnest attempts to stop that, and I believe it has been working at a relatively stable pace, and I can only hope that others will follow.

If one takes things too seriously, it becomes less entertaining, and simply something to critique. On a related note, I recently have seen a post by someone I know in the Pokemon fandom. This post gives a source that leads to speculate a new type appearing in the next generation of Pokemon games. With Pokemon, that is huge news. For something like that, I would expect an incredible amount of excitement and wonder. Instead, what I found was worries of how the new type would affect competition and how broken it could be. It all depends on perspective, I suppose. When one becomes to expecting and critical of something, perhaps they lose perspective in what made them like that thing in the first place.

As for me, before the trailer for EqG made an appearance, I decided to be cautiously optimistic about it, especially since I found out DHX was responsible for the movie. Now that the trailer has come out (and, while I still have not watched it yet, don't worry, I will), I find myself to be more so on the optimistic side than the cautious, as I have seen funny scenes and the charm that I know and love is still there. Also, I have learned the voice actors/actresses are the same, and that fills me with even more hope.

What I think people need to do is to not lose perspective, just as your post encourages. We've been through a lot. We've had to deal with changes that we have no control of, and I'm sure that makes some people scared. Having something so sacred being altered in such a fashion is scary, as it disrupts people's sense of safety and predictability. I can understand why a lot of folks would be upset. Some have taken it much farther than it would ever need to go, unfortunately, and that makes a lot of the larger group look bad. Despite this, however, I've seen so much support for the cast and crew that I still know that there are people out there that are level-headed and are not going to resort to such immature and juvenile actions. As long as those people exist, whatever happens to the rest of them, the ones who overreact and get mad about every little thing, doesn't matter. They'll still be seen and head, yes, but I know that they do not represent the whole, and that alone gives me cause for celebration. The passion I've seen in this fandom trumps all others that I've ever been a part of, and I hope that after everything settles down, it will continue to impress and amaze me.

I will try with all my might to approach Equestria Girls with an open mind and see what it has in store. I have it on good faith that it will not be nearly as bad as people say it is.

"Hey guys... I know this may sound weird... but have you seen this new My Little Pony show? No wait, don't laugh! It's better than it sounds. Give it a shot. You may actually even like it."

I love "Ah Ain't Got no Ack-Cent!" One of the first fics I ever read back in season 1, and I still think it holds up very well. Maybe I should check out those other ones, too.
