Briars, The Australian is probably the most balanced paper we have here. They usually post both sides of many issues,thankfully. The muslim community had fits when our deputy PM Julia Gillard, recently went to Israel for trade talks, and The OZ then had an editorial saying they would never be intimidated. You have all my support and best wishes with this, Robert. I look at the news online when I can. (Masochist - yes!) Islamism, Global Warming, Global Economic woes,countries punishing their own citizens and I don't just mean Iran,,anything,,, and I can't say I recall anything quite like this before. How to characterize these times? The old platitude comes to mind although I am sure there are some very astute 'bloggers/writers out there who can do much better. One day, many,many years from now, should common sense and reason ever return, this century, or the early part only hopefully, will be most aptly described as the "era when the lunatics took over the asylum". Surely we have done a backflip on the "age of enlightenment"? Are we going back to some "dark ages" in spite of the fact that we have multi-media/ more knowledge at our fingertips?
