So thankful that Josh is alright. Incredible. I do feel for the gentleman who hit him. I have turned left at that intersection at that particular time of day many times, just as he was doing in the video. The sun is unbearable. I have often had to just assume no one was in the intersection. God is good.

There is a student attempting to sell his student season tickets ($178 face value for all 7 games total) for $750 on craig's list. That pisses me off.

Agreed. This loss was terrible not so much because we lost to Western Michigan, but more so because of the absolute piss-poor effort on the field. Many of them quit. It was flat embarrassing. It's really cool to see how far we've come as a program since 1999. Those results were nothing too out of the ordinary as far as expectations for Iowa go, especially post-Fry. Credit to Ferentz for enduring and growing this program. If you're looking at it objectively, it's without a doubt fair to say that Iowa is well on it's way to the elite level in college football. Another BCS win this season cements Iowa among the top tier.

After three years of mediocrity, a holiday at home, a wild sting of off the field issues, and a season filled with extremely close losses/poor decisions, the Hawkeye finally pushed through - in a big way! And you're right on about the significance of this game, Mike. I said the following after we beat Penn State that night: "This team grew up a little bit on Saturday. You may not notice during the next game or even during this season at all. But next year and in the near future, we may look back upon ‘The Game’ as the catalyst for an advancement of a new Hawkeye era filled with confidence and triumph. Spot on analysis Mike. It's just too bad that things like this come around only when it's an absolute necessity. "Necessity is the mother invention." In Iowa's case, necessity is the only drive to come up with ideas like this. The second Fran wins 5 games in a row, things will go back to the status quo--"“Game Tonight” on the marquee and wait for the fans to show up" all while operating with an arrogant, "the fans should earn the right to come" attitude. Talk about a complete lack of business acumen. I'm actually uncertain as to whether or not the administration views the fans as customers. Incredible. And it's the single the biggest reason Iowa is in the atrocious position they're currently in.

Scott Miller of the Daily Iowan had a great stat in his article this morning: "Nearly 81 percent of the team’s scoring comes from underclassmen, and the Hawkeyes’ four top scorers are freshmen or sophomores." That's really all you need to know. And the fact that they've won 9 games and hastily contested the likes of Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan St, Virginia Tech, and Michigan (without referee Ed Hightower, a win) is a huge testament to Coach Lickliter, the 7 other staff members, and mostly the 11 players on the roster (to put that figure into perspective, Kansas has 18 on the roster). Besides the fact that Ford is so removed from the situation that he would have no way of taking a legitimate, fact-based stance, it is astonishing that he would not be in favor of giving a young man a second chance given the fact that Ford, a criminal himself, was given a second chance in life via football. In my brief time in and around Hawkeye athletics, I have yet to encounter someone as selfless and sincere as John Steif. No matter if you clean the bathrooms or if you coach the team, you are treated the same way by John. He is the salt of the earth and he would give you the shirt off of his back. Lester's gesture is, as he said, much over due. It's a shame that more Hawkeye fans don't have exposure to John. Thanks, Scott, for shedding some light on a true Hawkeye and a great human being.
