Winning it is now irrelevant. It will be amended to death to the point the EU reject it and Remainers will then say “we better stay after all. And no, you can’t have a GE until we’ve finally managed to find a way to bin Brexit that means we don’t get the blame”.

How are you going to organise a referendum in 11 days?

Same old fallacious argument.

If it wasn’t for the ERG we would be stuck as non-voting members forever, being shafted by the EU for eternity.

You understand the cost but not the value.

We’re better off as we can now directly elect and remove our political leaders and have a civil service that is dictated to by the elected government, not the other way around.

We can control our borders and won’t be forced into a military union that is likely to see us lose our ability to defend our key overseas territories and put our foreign policy in the hands of foreigners.

There *might* be a long term economic cost to this, but that is yet to be proved. Personally I think the limited cost is well worth the price to get away from the federalist dreams of unaccountable has beens.

Mingymoo,

Russia took Ukraine and encouraged the barrel bombing of children in Syria, all because the UK forced the political decision in the US not to intervene after chemical weapons were used and emboldened the West’s enemies.

The appeasement policy you suggest already actively caused the deaths of thousands, often in the most barbaric terms.

Well done,

We’d be defending western interests, likely with US assistance.

Those bases are critical for numerous aspects of western security. We wouldn’t be doing it “on behalf of the EU”. We’d be doing it on behalf of us, and the rest of Western civilisation.

To suggest this is some meaningless task over a few square miles of wasteland shows you either know little of geo-politics or you’re trying to subvert Western influence on geo-politics.

We wouldn’t be defending the EU from Turkey, we’d be defending a strategically vital base and would likely receive US help to do so.

It’s not just a place planes land, it’s importance to the defence of western interests in the ME are hard to overstate.

Turkish submarines have to get through the straits, never going to be an issue.

They are doing a lot wrong. They are colluding with a foreign power to defeat the aims of Her Majesty's legitimate government.

If they don't like the Government they should dissolve it, not stoop to morally questionable acts that would have seen them headless in a bygone age.

"Lunatics" and Remainers say we need to de-escalate the insults.
