As a point of fact, this country is explicitly not founded upon the Bible. It was founded by Enlightenment thinkers who attempted to use reason to articulate a new form of government. Many of our founders were undoubtedly heavily influenced by the Bible, but many also were not, and all agreed that religion had no part to play in the formation of the government.
