Big Government : Unbelievable… Democrat Asks for $48 Billion Earmark to Redistribute Wealth to Inner Cities-UPDATED

You're right. Why is it that people are so afraid or against doing what is right and hard over what is easy? I'm hopeful for the future. I believe our youth are learning for the first time in a long time that nothing comes free and a rigorous drive to work and create is the only path to meaningful success. Time will tell. Thanks for the reply!

You're 100% correct. Your statement is exactly what makes wealth worth something. A dollar is only worth the effort it took to make it. They call it racism or classism that I don't want to give free stuff to minority or lower class communities. Not at all, I don't see people in classes because I've been in every class. I want to help lower class by helping them learn to help themselves. I can't do that by giving them my money, I can only do that by showing them the doors and motivating them to walk through the doors. My advise is this: If you aren't doing something to help someone else better their situation, get out and do it. Be a mentor or something. If not, we will maintain the status quo and some jackass politician will be in D.C. telling us they need to take our money and give it to poor people. If we are doing our part, we are in a better place to tell that politician to kiss our butts.... also, it is the right thing to do to help people. Thanks for the comment!

It is amazing that people can define "ending poverty" as giving someone stuff. Two losers here. 1) Taxpayers whom can't afford this nor should they have to. 2) Rep. Cleavers' constituents who are represented by a man who defines success by how much free stuff he can get from the government. Oh, and just for good measure, you're racist if you don't want this past.

Wow, really? I deleted my initial comment after it was taken as an insult. I admitted my mistake, offered my apology and explanation which you rudely acknowledged after calling me rude and immature and now you are tattling on me. Well done, now if you'll excuse me I have a round of golf to play.

No, I skipped the day the had us in the brainwashing chambers and have always found myself well to the right on most issues. I do understand the causes of inflated education prices and I agree with you. The point I'm trying to make is it isn't wrong to be upset at the price of college. I think these kids are wasting time when they could be proposing real solutions to lower costs but that is a matter of opinion. I just don't want to see people defending higher education because they think the kids protesting are entitled punks when the reality is the majority of us are angry at the government and universities for artificially inflating the costs of tuition. Add the teachers union issues and you have one of the worst instances of institutionalized theft in american history. Irony: The left's go-to-reason-for-anything is "it's for the kids." Yet it is their unions and policies that are ruining many of "the kids" financial lives before they have even had a chance to begin.

FINALLY! Some common sense. The notion that anyone who attends college and complains about the price is just a socialist elite-in-training complaining about losing their entitlements is driving me nuts! It is the same thing with health care and the same government tricks have led to the inflation of those prices as well. I'm not a socialist because I get frustrated that I spent over $8000 in books to get a degree that has landed me nowhere. I'm part of the 17% part time workers selling golf clubs to pay rent.

Wrong, as a recent grad who has worked for everything I can tell you the anger isn't over entitlement. Of course, some (a lot) of the anger is but just as the tea-partiers are "average Joe's" so are most college students. Most college students are finding it more and more difficult to pay for college. The graph above should prove to you it isn't about losing an entitlement but ridiculously inflated prices.

Breitbart.tv : Obama Joins Anti-Gay Bullying 'It Gets Better' Campaign

Hazing in the military is a completely different issue from hazing in a college fraternity. Having not been in the service I can only speak in generalizations but I assume some hazing crosses the line but for the most part, as you stated, the people would risk their lives for one another. Military hazing serves a purpose of "going through hell" with each other because war is hell. In a way it is practice for dealing with adverse situations when lives may be on the line. We always hear as an excuse for hazing in my fraternity that "we're a military fraternity and hazing is a part of the military." As soon as we start picking up guns to defend our greek intramural football teams I will support that excuse. Until then, hazing has no part in a college fraternity.

Breitbart.tv : Obama Joins Anti-Gay Bullying 'It Gets Better' Campaign

I totally agree with you. In college I worked hard to rid my fraternity chapter of hazing which was founded nationally in 1869 at Virginia Military Institute in direct opposition to hazing. Some of the hazing was clear and harmful while some was more subtle and promoted a culture of mediocrity and completely neglected our founding values of love, truth and honor. Now I volunteer for an organization called hazingprevention.org and I get to see the larger picture of hazing and bullying. It is awful. I'm young (26) and teens a college age kids are living in a different world even from when I was their age not too long ago. It isn't about coddling our youth or being politically correct. It is about teaching our youth to live by values and having a strict moral code which supports a lifestyle of being the best one can be. I don't want to read about people supporting bullying or hazing on this thread and then see the same people criticizing it on whatever video is posted next about "union thuggary." I strongly appose the President on nearly every issue but this is one I can stand behind 100%. Let's be clear though, this isn't about the President, this is about the safety of kids and the character of our next generation who no doubt will need lots of it to deal with the messes we are leaving behind.
