HGTV Dream Home : What Would You Ask The Winner?

To continue: But the finishes of the bathroom countertops, sinks, faucets and cupboards are all first class and compliment each room. The great room and kitchen is such a warm and comfortable space and some of the items like the teepee like lights on the sideboard in great room just fit in so perfect. But I will say my favorite spot was the fireplace in the entry with the two wing back chars. They fire was on and if was so cozy I would have like to curl up and have a glass of wine and read a good book. The tour was extremely casual and friendly and you were invited to open and the cupboards and look at everything but please refrain from touching the fabrics. You were not rushed and were told you could stay through more than one tour. Wish all of you could of been on the tour with me, I know you would of all been excited as we were. - Gillian in NM.

Just thought I would tell you about my visit and tour of the HGTV Dream House today! Went with a couple of friends from work (I live about 25 miles from the dream house), and all I can say it is ten times nicer than the tour online. The house was smaller than I expected when the bus drove up, the surrounding landscape is absolutely beautiful and with the snow on the mountains made it perfect. We also saw some wild ponies that inhabit the area across from the entrance to San Pedro Estates in the Ortiz Mt. The house was not at all what I expected from touring on line, it is so cozy and intimate a space that I couldn't get over home how comfortable it felt. The colors of the rooms and the way Linda Wudrum decorated the place was so inviting. It is not at all as modern as it looks, loved the master bedroom and bath and the closet is ENORMOUS! - Will continue on the next post - Gillian in NM.

HGTV Dream Home : Public Tours: Get Your Tickets!

I just bought my tickets to tour the house, I am so excited. I am going with a couple of friends from work that are big HGTV fans (I live in the East Mountains but work downtown Albuquerque). Can't wait to see the tile in the foyer, I think that is the pretties spot in the house. Also the pantry and the sunrise room, will report back on the tour.

HGTV Dream Home : Super Fan Has A Suggestion

Hi Lessie; Paa-Ko is not a gated community and has many different builders. The home prices range to the HGTV house and down to probably around $400,000.00. There is also Sandia Park which hase houses of all prices and that is in the same area.

I drove past the development a few times this fall, and I friend of mine and I tried to enter that compound but it is gated and they wouldn't let us in. You can not see that particular house from the road and it is in an area with very few houses. Just about 5-10 miles south (on the same road Route 14 north) are a lot more homes at the entrance to the road that goes to the top of the Sandia mountains. They just built a golf course community called Paa-Ko. If you want to find that on line that will give people an idea of the area and the prices of "regular" homes. Will let the blog know when the tours start if I can find out and what our group (the people that I work with woho are big HGTV fans), impressions of the house.

I was just going to ask that question, I live about 30 miles away (from the HGTV house) and a group of us from work (I work in Albuquerque) want to go on the tour. I did read in the Albuquerque Journal that they are supposed to start the end of this month and through February and the proceeds donated to a local charity. The tickets in the paper were quoted at $20.00, so I hope they advertise when they start.
