I was unfamiliar with the band before given the album to review, and it really caught me off-guard. I'm a fan of post-rock or whatever the hell it's labeled now, and I found the band to be a streamlined version of some weightier bands. One of the key reasons I like this album so much is because it doesn't wear out its welcome. Too many instrumental bands wear out the same riff over and over; RC get the job done. Try going back to Melee and the title track, the rest will all fall into place.

Excellent review Logan. Great review for an undeserving record. I think you hit the nail right on the head here: While there are moments that definitely stand out, the rest feels like it's phoned in. Maybe they're testing us? I hope this allows the band to reflect on their pallet and next time they'll drop the perfect combination of both worlds.

Josh, this is genius! I remember Peter Howell raving about how absurd this film is earlier this year in the Toronto Star, but it slipped my mind. There should be a screening in late October, I'm excited to see this. Is it half as bad as the greatness (read: inexplicable idiocy) of Troll 2?

I think the point of putting in a Bloc Party reference is to evoke a sonic comparison that can't be described in words. Mindlessly calling someone out for comparing two bands and calling it "shocking" is not only hilarious, but completely elitist. The reviewer suggested that Bloc Party marry sensitivity and rock better than Mute Math, I don't see what's so shocking about that. Provide a little more insight, why the Bloc hatred?

Doom II worship. Haha. In all seriousness, I'm looking forward to this. I still have a huge respect for Colors even if I felt their older material was stronger. This one has some great ideas too, we'll have to see where this is headed.
