I'm sorry you feel that way. If you would, I'd like to take a moment to see if I can address your concerns:

At this point, Graves is supposed to be the generic "cool" hero: this story is an introduction through which his character as well as the characters of the other girls will be explored. One of the big points I'm going for through the series is that beneath Graves's exterior is a lot more complexity that I want to explore slowly. I couldn't cover all that in first story because frankly, there's way too much for one story to cover.

Also, please don't think I want to reduce Twilight to a girl who needs to be saved. That's just how it happened for the sake of this series of events. The different characters will be used in different ways, though once again I couldn't fit it all into the first story. Without going into too much detail, I hope to explore Twilight and Rarity in particular, the first as an almost big sister figure to the marshal and the second as much more than just a pretty girl who likes dresses.

Thank you for the honest feedback. If you'd be willing to give some of my later works a chance (accessible on fimfiction) and letting me know what you think, I'd very much appreciate it.

1. Yes, the marshals arrive.
2. They are a plot point for this story and the institution remains important throughout
3. The traveler was instructed to deliver unto Twilight a letter (the contents of which shall remain undisclosed)
4. The Matrix is a giant supercomputer used to keep humanity in suspended animation in order to (a.) harvest their electrical energy for power according to the movies (b.) utilize their brains as processors according to the original script.
5. Rosebud was a sled
6. Mare-Do-Well is batman.

It's not so much for now as for later. Some of my later stories have scenes that I couldn't do full justice to as ponies. At least, not in my own mind. They're up on fimfiction (currently publishing story 6), so please take a look and let me know what you think.

The reason I did it was probably because of a lack of skill on my part.

I have a long series of stories planned, some of which involve emotions and scenes that I don't think I could fully portray if I were writing about ponies. Certain turns of phrase, certain descriptions, just seem easier to do when writing about humans.

That being said, please keep and open mind, and I hope you enjoy!
