Definition of PURSUANCE: the act of pursuing; especially : a carrying out or into effect. Definition of THEREOF 1: of that or it 2: from that cause or particular. So, “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land..." Means this: “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in [carrying out or into effect] [of it]; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land. Hope this helps.

It would people who want to misconstrue the document to mean that the Federal Government can do whatever it wants. If you believe there are no limits to Federal Power than I would call that totalitarianism.

Colorado Tenth Amendment Center : The Fourth Tea Party

The message is Serve the Lord God with all of your hart, and love your neighbor as you love yourself. It is not complicated. You use the term tea-bagger, is that from your pastor? look at all of the comments, all the nasty stuff is coming from one side of the debate. A lot of insults, not a lot of substance. The author pointed out it was the Brittish Crown teaming up with a private company to oppress the people, thus "Corporatism" was born. I wont speak for all "tea-baggers" but I want the Government out of buisness, meaning no more picking winners and losers.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." The First Amendment recognizes the freedom of expression and religion. If these ideas are offensive to you, maybe you could find another hobby then reading anti religion websites. Here is a little fact for you, the very same congress that drafted what became the first Amendment asked President George Washington for a Proclimation of Thanksgiving. Your religion hating website missed this one http://colorado.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2010/11/... maybe you could post it there, so we can get blasted for posting that too =)

No, but you will find these words, which I will repost again... "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" Christians active in politics do NOT violate the "establishment clause" and IS protected by the first amendment. I love how people how want to stop intolerance are often times the most intolerant people out there. You notice how all the vitriol is one sided on these comments. I ask, who is the real threat?

To your other point. here is the US Constitution on line. Nowhere in it will you find the words "seperation of Church and State". Those words came from a letter written by Jefferson to the Danburry Baptists, and they were taken out of context. The Constitution is the Supreme law of the land, and there are amendment procedings for changing it. There is the First Amendment which states... "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Now no matter how hard you stretch the establishment clause, you cannot bar Christians from seeking to improve government, any more then you can stop any other group. The first amendment specifically protects Christians the same as it would any other group.

Dee, On taxation without representation. Did you feel represented when Bush passed the Patriot Act? How about when Obama and the Dems voted to continue it in 09? I urge you to re read the last part of the article again, and set aside your, "I hate religion" feelings and discern for yourself what the author was trying to say. Then consider what inflation really is. it is a hidden tax. This tax is not imposed on us by the Congress, it is imposed on us by a bank, a bank where we have no representation. This tax hurts the middle class and poor the most, because it destroys the buying power of their money. The economist John Maynard Keynes wrote this about inflation. "By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some."

Now, religion aside for just a moment. There is something wrong, and I think people know it. I noticed it when Bush was president, in fact the Patriot Act is the thing that "woke" me up. And it was pushed on us by a man who proclaimed himself a Christian. One of the best books I have read on what is going on in America today was written by a liberal called "Give me Liberty" by Naomi Wolfe, and I was given that book by the author of this article. Now, while I proclaim my politics as Christian Libertarianism, I think the biggest danger in America today is that we don't talk to each other anymore. There is no debate, each side just starts throwing stones given to us by our "serve yourself" media. Where talking heads proscribe the best way to shut down the opposition setting up strawman arguments, and demonstrating how easy it is to knock it over.

Alfonso, have you been reading the responses? using Religion is the worst type of propaganda in politics. You will be shouted down and ridiculed in any open forum for attempting it. Lucky for us there are no thought crimes yet, right? The teachings of Jesus come down to two very important rules. Serve God with all of your heart, and love your neighbor as you love yourself. That is the "spirit" of Philadelphia.

Alfonso, I don't think you, or many of the detractors of this article understand the point Steve was making. I attribute it to a trained response to anything attached to Christianity. The real taxation with out represtentation is the "inflation tax" meaning your money is being devalued by the Government, with help from its partner the Federal Reserve. That is a tax, and it impacts the poor more then anyone else. The system is propagated unger the "guise" of helping the poor. Meaning we need to borrow all this money to fund entitlement programs, money that doesn't exist, which will eliminate the middle class. This is not a Republican vs Demacrat issue. because the message was delivered by a Pastor, the left seems to be up in arms, but we should all be on the same side on this.

Steve, based on the Ad Hominem's I would say you have stirred something up with your article. John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Great topic Michael,__I was one of the people angling for the tax status, but your response here makes more sense to me now then it did when we had the discussion a few months ago.____Since you guys have been running this a few years, you would be in a position to know how much we pay out of our donations in tax dollars, and know if that is better then jumping through hoops.____What ever system is used, what I would find very useful, would be seeing the by laws for the group, and what we can and cannot do in regaurds of affecting change in policies at the state level.____I have been out of commision for much of the summer out politicing, but I think we will have a much better General Assembly after the November elections. I do not base this on party affiliations, but I know who will be in charge if the Rs become the majority in the Senate, and that is very good for tenthers in my state.____Looking forward to a better year =)__Geoff in Colorado

I did not write that as a defense of DeMint, I have little to no use for saviors dressed as career politicians, in either party. Experience has shown them to be equally bad while in power. I had three issues, One the title was incorrect (minor) Two bringing up abortion as an issue (my fears there were wrong, I think it has turned out to be good) Three, calling out someone for there pro life stance, when the problem is Roe V Wade. I am not against following the constitution, the constitution was perverted by that court case. And a Government that will not defend innocent life is not a just government. I think it is cowardice to hide behind Roe V Wade and the constitution to justify continueing with a practice started by the same Eugenisist we rescued from Nazzi Germany.

Jeff, Once again, you are reading something I never intended. I am not familiar with the bill or what it actually did or attempted to do. i am saying based on the title, and your reference of it, anyone at any level who thinks of the unborn as a life is OBLIGATED to defend it. To hide behind the Constitution completly misses the point of what our system of Government is all about. True the Constitution merely outlines the "How to" of Government and it fails to provide adequatly in stated undisputed language what to do when one branch usurps its power and the other two fail to act, but the Declaration tells us the "why". By your same reasoning, Nullification is not in the Constitution either. It is clear that people have become calous to the murder of unborn children, as you are(or you don't believe it is life) and want to view it through a narrow scope to allow that murder to continue. @mrkwhlbrk Colorado is working on the issue at the state level, I do think murder is a state level crime, but I wont take acception to a Federal level official voting in favor of life.

If the SCOTUS made a ruling prohibiting the States from protecting the rights of people with red hair, and there was a vote on the floor of congress to limit the damage of that ruling in any way, hiding behind the Constitution is not a moral or principled way to deal with the vote. You cannot claim that Government was instituted among men, deriving its just authority from the consent of the governed, to protect those unalienable rights of "life "liberty" and the "pursuit of happiness", if you will hide behind a compact that sets the structure for that government to allow people to be denied those rights. Said another way, you cannot use the Constitution to justify the continued Eugenics inspired policy of abortion. You can only morally defend abortion if you believe the unborn does not constitute a life, and then we can use science to refute that.

Michael, At first I was really worried about this debate, now i am happy to have it. Colorado is one of the States working on a "Personhood" Amendment which would define the unborn as a person with the rights of a person. The Constitution is a contract to grant the government specific powers, I think we agree on that. We also agree ROE V WADE is unconstitutional, but we have to live in the world today and deal with the realities that exist.
