•Talks a lot about subjects I know nothing about so I always think of them as smart but they might be making it all up. OMG, just explained so much about a particular relationship.

The Toast : Is "It" Feminist?

Took me a long time to realize this was a test specifically for "It," and not a general test for determining if any cultural product is or is not feminist. I was getting some interesting results.

I can think of a few co-workers who I'm going to have to boil alive, let's just say for "sinning," and I am pretty sure there has to be an easier way than bending them in half backwards.

The Toast : If You Were Wonder Woman and Chris Pine Were Your Boyfriend

If I were Wonder Woman and I were heterosexual, I think I might be more inclined to date Jason Momoa as Aquaman. We'd have more in common, I wouldn't worry about snapping him in half during sexxxy times, and also even though Chris Pine is fine and he can get it, Jason Momoa > Chris Pine.

What if - and I'm just thinking aloud here - we dug a kind of a trench thing from over there, where the water is, to over here, where we want to plant stuff? Then we wouldn't have to hope it rains a little bit every day.

I sense that anything you eat is not your friend. Or, perhaps, you are not its friend. Which, now I've typed it, reveals itself as a world of difference. I have to think about this. Perhaps over a bowl of lobster bisque.

The Toast : Dad Magazine: July 2015 Edition

It is with mixed emotion that I think about how my mother did not live to fully appreciate the wonders of the modern internet. On the one hand, if she had, she would be with us (or me, at least) today. On the other hand, if she had, there would be a never-ending stream of emails and mildly inappropriate Faceplace posts.

Wonkville : Gawker ruins some guy's life, then says "oopsie!"

I am somewhat obsessed with this story, for reasons I don't fully understand. I suspect there's a little bit of "white guy like me got into a kind of trouble I could imagine myself getting into so now I am Mad About A Thing." But it's really shitty, and I think the standards that are being proposed - "truth" is the main criterion for publication, being adjacent to power makes your private life "newsworthy" - are troubling. I also think Gawker actively participated in extortion/blackmail, probably because it would be embarrassing to a rival with whom they have an ax to grind. But I'm mainly posting here because I had never until this morning clicked on the Wonkville tab.
