With the ongoing success of the Warmachine: Tactics Kickstarter, I can't help but wonder how successful a MLP miniatures game would be. Release unpainted Blind Bag Ponies, note some stats and abilities or whatever on the insert card, and essentially let creative collectors and players name and design their own force.

I mean, people substitute ponies in their tabletop gaming sessions all the time as is. Why not build a ruleset around the concept? :P

I want to play it so badly. I wish I could afford a new computer right now. I want to buttslide around Ponyville again. :(

But yeah, I hope LoE does well and actually approaches what can be seen as a release. Ambitious projects staffed with loads of talent shouldn't need to keep to the shadows in fear that, despite being a non-profit fan work, someone at any time can come down on it for the necessity of protecting assets. I'm not saying it will face legal action, I'm only hoping the threat of it doesn't arise, which would be enough for the project to be dismantled on the spot.

Furthermore, just the other day, word finally got around to me that that other popular Hasbro MMO, Transformers Online, has apparently been scaled down to being a MOBA so it can be released sooner, in addition to employee layoffs despite the developer in question posting record-breaking income. As much as I'd like an officially licensed MLP MMORPG, I can only count the ways that it could go wrong without fan input.

It'll be interesting to see how successes compare between LoE and Questria. One copies the names and generates an almost perfect 3D layout of the show's setting and art direction, but without the characters. The other includes the characters and setting, but changes just barely enough about them that an argument could be made that it's unrelated, in addition to seeking funding to do so. Hopefully, both of them get a pass.
