Daily Camera.com: : Outcry from CU-Boulder students about limited seating at GOP debate - Boulder Daily Camera

Again, "on the publicly funded campus". That donations outside funding approved by the legislature help the university operate does not suddenly change it's charter as a "private institution."

Think you should read a few Aesop fables if you believe the most effective way to silence that which you do not want to hear is suppressing someone else's constitutionally protected right. Perhaps the GOP should hold their debates in a privately owned barn instead of a publicly funded arena on the grounds of a publicly funded state university whose creed is based on openness and public debate. Sheep seem to be more an appropriate audience for this bunch of clowns anyway. Nothing but a continuous comedy of errors. The GOP is in huge trouble right now, particularly with Boehner's departure, and all you can think of is "how can we suppress dissent"? Sheesh...

"This isn't a play," said Sean Spicer, chief spokesman for the Republican National Committee. It's a comedy, and yes, comedies can be plays, though this is more along the lines of comedic improv.

Between Carly's disastrous stints at Bell Labs and HP twenty years ago, (two of Colorado's largest employers at the time), about 100,000 Colorado residents lost their job. Bell Labs, the world's greatest technology company ever, no longer exists thanks to Carly's efforts to outsource American jobs to Bangalore in an effort to boost profits. It did the opposite and drove Bell Labs into insolvency. Carly has a well-deserved reputation of taking profitable, dynamic companies and destroying them, but lets all listen to her plan about boosting our economy. Good Lord you have a short memory...

Daily Camera.com: : Transgender parishioner says Lafayette\'s Flatirons church barred her from women\'s events - Boulder

The premise of this article - in fact the entire article - is about a church discriminating against one of it's transgender congregants. The presumption being that transgender is banned in biblical scripture. However, the truth is the opposite. Nowhere in any scripture is transgender even mentioned. Not even in Leviticus. This cult is exclusionary and discriminatory, and they're using a false narrative to promote bigotry. They are the pinnacle of hypocrisy.

It's true discrimination is not necessarily defined by "hateful treatment", it's simply treatment against someone in a class to which that person belongs rather than on individual merit. That is exactly what the Church of Walmart is doing here.

At least you agree that Flatirons Church really is just a business. One without the burden of taxation of course, but that is their primary purpose. Can I explain why they prosper and don't deliver what they market (e.g., all inclusiveness yet don't practice it)? Yes. All they do is collect tax exempt donations and invest it in real estate. Private enterprise does that too, but they have the additional burdens of property, sales, income, payroll, etc., taxation. It gives them a huge advantage.

What "Christian" denomination are you referring to? There's quite a variety, each with their own interpretations. Regardless, you're not being truthful to yourself as most all Christians adhere to the parts of Leviticus that justify their world views, including their bigotry. Take Kim Davis's Apostolic church for example, but where in the New Testament is transgender even mentioned? For that matter where in the Old Testament? Go ahead, interpret away.

They market themselves as all inclusive. Like many "businesses" they don't always deliver what they market. They might not have asked her to leave the church, (they like her money), but they are discriminating, because that's what they do. Congregants of the Church of Walmart come regularly from as far away as Wyoming, Freemont, Jefferson, Adams, Arapaho, Larimer, Clear Creek, el Paso, Weld and other counties. Your argument that she comes from her own county and as to drive maybe six miles is baseless.

I would have thought a former city councilor would understand land use classification and law, at least at a primitive level. There is considerable difference between urban commercial districts within city limits and agricultural districts actively being worked in rural, unincorporated parts of the county. Quite frankly the Waneka/Lowes property was a lousy idea from the onset. That Lowes paid so much for the property is their fault, (and perhaps the fault of councilors who promoted the idea to them). There already is a Lowes within 5 miles, another one within 7, and two Home Depots within 5. The market is saturated. It's a shame Lowes didn't do their due diligence first, but that's not the Waneka's fault, now is it? It will be a long, long time before Lowes can recover their costs for that property, but in all likelihood they will probably realize cutting their losses and getting out from that property is in their long-term best interest. I predict they'll sell the property for half what they paid for it to a California home builder who'll want to build 1000 homes in a new urbanist, neo-traditional community, and annex the property to the city. Considering it's not in a 100 yr flood plain like the 500 homes the city just approved along the creek (that was under water the first month and a half of construction), it's probably a better investment for individual homeowners. I wouldn't worry too much about the city not have adequate infrastructure to support it, Lafayette is notorious for allowing such construction. In the mean time, I see no problem with leasing that land back to the Wanekas so they can work it. Insinuating that Lafayette's commercial core would remain blighted is absolutely ridiculous. Boulder County has seen explosive growth since the failed Bush administration (and the resulting recession), that thankfully ended under Obama administration (ouch). In fact Lafayette is experiencing unprecedented growth, primarily because relatively speaking it is the most affordable option left in the county and it's proximity to Denver and Boulder is ideal. Not because of the frigg'n Church of Walmart. However, they stand to profit quite nicely from that growth since they were able to use their tax-exempt status and their sheep's hard earned money (i.e., donations), to buy up a bunch of property that they can now sell off. Regarding Chuch of Walmart's contributions, it is a small fraction of their actual net worth. The overwhelming majority of their wealth is used acquiring more wealth (and assets). Sister Carmens receives contributions from numerous organizations, including from myself and every other church in the region. Suzanne deserves more credit for that (via her outreach), than Leviticus loving Pastor Bergun.

In my conscience I believe I have it right. Albertsons was not a tax-exempt church and had every right to turn a profit, (though they failed). Churches, on the other hand, don't pay taxes, buy up tons of real estate with donations, still discriminate, yet reap HUGE rewards. All in the name of "Christ". Yeah, pretty sure I've got it right.

I'm fairly agnostic these days, for reasons that may not be obvious to those still giving 20% of their gross income to the Church of (frigg'n) Walmart.
