It is pretty much a sure lock that Liston threw both fights with Ali not due to the Black Muslims but because the Outfit told him to. The outfit made a ton of money on the first fight because Liston was so heavily favored. Liston was a monster of a man but he knew that you don't cross the Outfit. The Black Muslims weren't anything compared to the Outfit power. Liston probably used the Muslims as an excuse to cover up the real reason for throwing both fights.
