What I think is you don't know if you don't try.

The cost for dealing with this epidemic must not be borne by the UK taxpayer. The epidemic originated in China and has infected the UK. Reparations must be paid by China the same as BP got stung for the problems that occurred in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. I don't care about upsetting the Chinese regarding infrastructure investment as the Chinese will never turn down an opportunity to invest. Boris and Osborne need to understand how the Chinese mind works (I know, I work in China), I bet Trump will be putting in a bill but we should be first in the queue.

I missed the part in this article where the UK Government sent a bill for reparations to a 'very wealthy' China to cover all the costs incurred by the UK in dealing with the effects of the coronavirus and thereby avoiding any tax rises for the UK public. I assume Mr Sunak is currently keeping a spreadsheet of costs incurred to date, if not then he should start now.

York would be a choice worth seriously considering.

A very good article Mr Houchen. Your ideas for 'true' Freeports will have a lot of support I'm sure (I certainly believe in them). It's way past time the North was given the opportunity to become as prosperous as the South and I say that as a Southerner. The new Government have been sending out some really positive signals about bringing prosperity to the North but you may need to gently nudge them from time to time in order to maintain the momentum. Good luck.

How well is the Conservative campaign machine running this time round? Not well enough, still too timid. Why are the main Conservative players not taking Corbyn's fairy tales apart, there have been many open goals which CCHQ have missed as usual. Half term report: Must do better!!!

BJ was always going to be between a rock and a hard place. If he went in too hard on Grandpa, which he could easily have done, he would be accused of bullying and encouraged unwanted sympathy for the old codger. Better to come out just ahead as he did as people have pretty much made up their minds who they are going to vote for.

I want a GE to get a stable Conservative Government but there are many dangers such as: The MSM will now publish all the usual pre-GE scare stories such as people snuffing it in the corridors of NHS Hospitals, schools needing their leaking roof fixed, people having to sleep on the streets, Nurses having to go to foodbanks etc. This is in addition to the fact that the boundary changes have not been put in place, there is a resistance to an informal 'understanding' with TBP, older folk who vote Conservative may not want to leave their homes on a murky December day, the postal voting corruption has not been addressed and neither has the student's 'two votes' issue.
