To any cis folk who may be wondering about the scene where Steven fuses with himself: Yes, that's exactly what it's like. At least, that's what it was like for me--I can't speak for anyone else.

Fusion has always been about love, the shorts told us that. The fusions that work--that stay stable, and don't go out of control--are the ones held together by love, whether that's romantic love (Garnet), filial love (Smoky Quartz), the love of friends (Stevonnie)... and now self-love. Because that has always been Steven's strongest trait--not in a selfish way, but a healthy way: he loves Steven, and loves being Steven. That's what holds his fusion together.

This is a common belief, but untrue—he’s from a Catholic Belorussian background.  http://jmsnews.com/Messages/Message/18419

Fuck, you’re right! I completely forgot Ivanova gives a variant of the S3 narration at the end of S2! And I always fixated on the candle lighting as an inverse of the candles going out for G’kar, in part because I just assume Christian writers will fail at Jewish symbolism.

Yep. The whole premise was notorious social justice warrior HG Wells doing a “what if someone did to Britain what Britain is doing to the rest of the world” thing.

This episode, y’all. This isn’t the moment where the show gets good—that was the outbreak of the Narn-Centauri War. This is the moment the show goes from good to great.

I’ve been having a chaotic week, so I haven’t been commenting. I noticed something watching yesterday’s episode: remember “The Geometry of Shadows”? The silly purple vs green thing? That was foreshadowing the armbands here, and Ivanova’s ranting at the Drazi presaged Garibaldi’s here.

“The Babylon Project was a dream given form.”—Sinclair
“It failed.”—Ivanova

I’ve seen people complain—here and elsewhere—about victory being portrayed as greater than peace in the S3 narration. But sometimes it is. There can be no peace without justice, and there can be no justice so long as the oppressor has the power to prevent it. Once Earth’s government has closed off every nonviolent means of effecting change, violent revolution is all that remains—a lesson certain election-stealing, vote-suppressing politicians would do well to heed IRL.

Ah. I was confused, thought you were talking about a trans character in the show. My bad.
