I'm baffled how any Black person (rich, poor, liberal, conservative, etc.) could defend Hollywood of all places with such ferocity. Seriously, isn't Hollywood the same place that usually portrays Black men as buffoons, gangbangers, deadbeat fathers, and drug dealers? And don't get me started on the "Black woman = mindless sex object" meme that appears in too many movies. And you wonder why Black filmmakers like Tyler Perry and now Spike Lee want to create films as far from Hollywood as possible?

Why is comparing Wilson and Perry off base? Both are Black men who became popular through crossdressing stunts. Another thing, how do you know Perry is on the down low just because he is playing Madea. By your standard Flip Wilson was equally "gay" for playing Geraldine. I do agree with you that Black people in America are intolerant of homosexuality. But can you honestly say that a guy in a dress is NOT silly not matter how much GLAAD argues otherwise?
