I must have been 3 or 4 I suppose. I'm lying on my back just in front of a windmill, right underneath the sails. The sky is blue, the grass is green, it's all quite peaceful. But suddenly the wind picks up, the mill starts turning, and one of the blades is much longer than it has any business being. I try to get up and leave, but I can't move, and the blade lops my head clean off.

I don't even know where that comes from, and I'm not generally afraid of windmills. But it was the start of a long era of me dreaming about getting decapitated by gigantic mechanical devices, growing more abstract in shape and purpose as time went on. Haven't had one of those in maybe a decade though, and I'm pretty happy about that.

I found this link through Mikey's twitter: http://deadline.com/2015/06/horror-anthology-seri...

Daaaaaang. That's a hotsquat and a half, I'll say. (I hope that means it's extremely rad, because that's what I mean.)

I found the actual story gets legitimately interesting about two-thirds of the way in, but I completely understand that one might find it's a lot of oatmeal to swallow before getting to the brown sugar. I don't have any of the consoles it originally released on, so I watched a Let's Play at the time to get to the good parts without having to really endure the bad parts. But I enjoyed those better parts so much that when it did release on PC I bought it immediately.

The cost to do it is astronomically low. If they pollute ten thousand sites and only catch a dozen suckers total, they're still making more money than if they had behaved with an ounce of consideration. And catch suckers they do, else they wouldn't bother with these methods.

If the past is any indication, chances are they're eyes.

That's not creepy at all! Just single phantom eyes floating on top of funeral monuments! Bring the kids!

I think fear is almost certainly still the key here. The Boys are exceptionally brave and almost genuinely fearless, and most townspeople (Auxiliary excepted, to some degree) don't know enough about what's really going on to be afraid. Zane practically lived in a system of perpetual terror before he even moved in, and through his misadventures he spread it to Iris and Angstrom.
