17, I would have guessed way more than that. Maybe he is just saying that so we the proles won't get upset. Oh 17, thats not too much... Well this has always been a problem, FDR had tons of socialists in his inner circle. I personally place a lot of blame on todays happenings and downfall, on the generation of FDR. Although they were amazing in the defending of America's liberties, the politicians of that day started the extrodinary destruction of the America that was originally defeated. Obama is another FDR, but if you actually read history, that is a very bad thing. FDR was only soluted I believe for his policies in the war. And as such he must not be talked against. However, if you read his policies, he was the most socialist president ever.

And we should start by teaching our own children the Iron Clad difference between the two. This is as a result of the last 60+ years of our politicians and media declaring the US is a democracy.

Come on guys, we have a population of 330 million and counting, and what 800 people get sick, maybe 10 already dieing old people die, and we call it and epidemic. Come on!!!! Give me a break. I was wondering the other day; so much has happened recently that has angered me to the point of rage. I have been thinking; something should be done about this, and when are we the people, going to stand up against this. I think this is a very important thing. What is the one thing the government will do, for us to revolt, to burn down Washington. Is it religion? No several states have already trampled on religion. Is it marriage? No. Is it the family? No. Guns? No... Government has already taken away so many freedoms and liberties, and we have done nothing. I once heard a quote which struck me; "All people who call themselves patriots say they are willing to die for their country, how many say they are willing to kill for it." I am definately not saying we should go out and kill the foes of liberty now. But when are we going to stop lieing down in the middle of the road, dead, while the government steals away our liberties. As I reflect, I still do not know when the tipping point is for me.

Shot at maybe, but that is what the crazin cowards do. My question is why did he do it quietly,and behind doors. That is what bothers me. The financial aspect of the current agenda is broadcast across every news media outlet, however the main agenda of the president is being done behind close doors. This guy is the best illusionist, as he is directing the nations attention with one hand, and taking our watches with the other. I don't mind him taking away guns on airlines if he has a reason, or a plan. But to just do it, in secret. " Benjamin Franklin I think this means that we the people giving up our gun rights, or liberties to move about our own country so as to purchase a bit of peace of mind, have sold our liberties to the lowest bidder. When the crude is processed, state and the feds collect on the labor, as well as enviromental penalties. Moreover, the business itself must pay for the profit, and for just existing to both the state and federal agencies. When the processed fuel is purchased for distribution, a tax is collected on the sale of the fuel by distrubutors. The individual retailers then pay a tax for the purchase from individual distributors. The consumer, then pays an additional state and federal tax to put the stuff in our car. And lets be honest, everyone else in line was just adding the tax number to the top of the individual price/gallon. So in the end, I or you, the consumer has probably paid over 65% in just taxes to consume the gasoline. Now think about it for anything you purchase. Even those who do not pay income tax probably spend 50 cents on every dollar they have on a tax of some form. Oh well... God save the King

Have you ever thought about how much of every dollar you have, or ever had, goes to government in some form or another? I was sitting down at the department of licensing the other day to renew my tabs for my RV. Yes I love to destroy the planet, and when you are freezing this next winter, you can personally thank me for doing my best to keep you warm. I digress... As I was writing my enormous check to cover the misc. taxes listed on my tabs form, I pondered how much really goes to taxes in some form or another. Lets take the marvelous gas industry, as I am sure everyone has at least some interest in. When the crude is purchased, the Feds collect an excise tax on the crude oil.

Let us remember that President Obama in 2001ish said that the Constitution is a negative rights document against the Federal Government. His disregard for the Constitution is the damage to the Consitution that George Washington and Daniel Webster talked about that would tear our great country apart.

I know what you mean, I can't seem to find any of my comments. Left wing conspiracy, I think maybe :).... One method of assault may be to effect, in the forms of the Constitution, alterations which will impair the energy of the system, and thus to undermine what cannot be directly overthrown." George Washington 1796. George Washington put it best I think, we should all resist the urge to become more "Progressive" in our attempts regarding the consitution. Although there have been many good improvements, i.e. the abolishion of slavery. However there have been many, in my opinion, misplaced good intentions. Such as the 17th amendment, which states that the Senate also shall be elected directly by popular election. Good thought, possibly to counter cronyism. However in instating the 17th amendment, the Federal government overthrew the last stand that states had to resist total and complete control by the federal government.

AIG and the Bonuses: What a distraction this is, and I believe that is really what it is, nothing but a distraction. Lets not get angry with the omnibus spending bill, which is giving billions of bonuses to totally random people. At least AIG is under contract to repay this, the spending bill gives money to totally random crud, which we will never see a single red cent of benefit from. Booohooohooo, AIG people got bonuses. Who friggin cares, lets stop giving anyone money. And yes oddthumbs, not only should we break the auto workers contracts, but we should bust that union back to the depths of hell where it belongs. I just can't believe how easily everyone can be distracted from important issues by the simple wave of the MSM magic wand. All of America is ADD on speed... "Oh I am so angry about this spending bill I could scream, Im finally going to do someth... oh look a bike." We need to not storm AIG with indignant anger, but storm Washington DC, and burn it to the ground like they did back in the 60's. Well maybe not quit that far, maybe just singe some of their ruffled shirts, or powdered wigs.

Terms limits may not be the answer, but the abolition of the 17th Amendment. Our founding fathers knew that if both houses of the Congress were beholden to the current popular opinion polls or trends, then the absolute corruption of the system was inevitable, as we can all see now. In having an appointed Senate, they may vote as the State governments want, as well as to do what is right, at not always what is popular.
