The M113 is the older vehicle, it preceded the M114 in service, The M114 was intended to replace the Jeeps used in Armored & Armored Infantry Battalion Scout Platoons, and the Jeeps used in Armored Cavalry Platoons. They saw service throughout the US Army past 1973, but only saw use in Vietnam from '62 to '64 when replaced by the M113 ACAV variant. FMC, maked of the M113 would go on to develop the Lynx (M113½ Command and Reconnaissance Vehicle) on their own dime, which the Canadians and a few other countries selected a few years after the M114 was introduced. Basically a reduces size M113, using many of the same components.

The M114 was not a command variant of the M113, it was a completely different significantly smaller vehicle

Want an Ike jacket? Go back to "Pinks & Greens" Problem with wearing the Ike jacket to essentially replace the black windbreaker is that the windbreaker when worn with class-B's doesn't require a tie. While I hardly see that happening with an Ike jacket. I would recommend adopting the enlisted windbreaker for all ranks, in the same blue color as the ASU jacket with officers and NCOs wearing same rank shoulder boards as with the white shirt. Screw the silly a$$ service caps. Yes, women should wear the same styled headgear as men. Heck, I would recommend deleting the women's skirts and pumps from the uniform inventory.

If there is really a secondary market, wouldn't someone have been asking about the several hundred A-10s already in the boneyards? My inner cynic thinks this is more an attempt to lobby Congress to force the USAF to retain the aircraft in regular service, or risk losing them for good.

Apparently you expect the Wasp-class ships to last forever. The US Navy intends to operate 11 LHD/LHA type vessels. By the time the USS Tripoli (2nd America-class) enters commission the USS Wasp will have likely been in commission at least 30 years. The third through eleventh America-class ships (or whatever they decide to call the well-deck variant) are intended to replace the Wasp-class, on a one for one basis.

OK, they are not developing a 6.5mm carbine or ammunition. That's just nonsense. The LSAT program is developing weapons to fire 5.56mm and 7.62mm caseless (CL) & cased telescopic (CT) ammunition. They are using 5.56mm and 7,62mm so they can use current weapons and ammo as a baseline. This way they can accurately determine what realistic weight savings can be found. And, compare weapons & ammunition operability, durability and effectiveness. Yes, the program has, since it's inception, been targeted for scalability. To be able to adapt to any caliber of ammunition, if so desired IN THE FUTURE. No such decision has been made. And frankly, there is no chance a change of caliber decision will be made until an ammunition path (CT or CL) has been finalized. And, that can't happen until actual tests against the baseline have been completed. Anyone offering other information is simply spreading unrealistic and uninformed internet chat room gossip.
