The problem with those is that, as a DMACC electrician instructor pointed out earlier this year, the people who get pushed into those programs are the ones who didn't do well in primary school. Maybe learning disabilities, maybe mental and/or physical health issues, maybe poor motivation. Are those really the people you want wiring your house, though? The Kirkwood programs that provide jobs are the vocational ones, not the liberal arts ones, and if people want a good job, they should consider those.
