Vimes thinks that the watch there would have been all killed without us trick. "We could have handled it with the golem officers on our side?" And vimes thinks no we couldn't we could die valiantly.................this is enough reason for what they did a surviving watch and no war Vs some extra dunk people

I think Vir at this point is still somewhat idealistic and thinks people can change but also has basically put her off gently and also may have saved someone else from marrying her. For him to different would not be Vir or he'd have left londo long ago

When saying them it's two different mouth shapes. W is a pursing of the lips like trying to kiss someone. V is more a line across but with your top teeth on your bottom lip

It was written over 14 years ago it may be the case that his daughter and friends loved pink or he's having a poke at the gender colour choices foisted on us by clothing manufacturers back then.
