The thing with NI is in the name, 'national insurance', in it being part of the web of a social safety net , for when things go tits up in life not everyone has a city trust fund and a bunch of share options , whether some of the commenters will like it or not Theresa is moving the party from Thatcherism to One nation or debatably a variant of Christian Democratic European style conservatism with more emphasis on an organic social a moral duty on the values of common community and social justice, you stick to them Theresa show them your kitten heels.....where it hurts
We shall have to raise our game and have on our minds that Keir Starmer could be Labour leader one day in the not so distant future, from what I know the PLP have changed the leader selection rules to enable it almost a certainty that a contender would need the support of 51 PLP mps . He is dangerous to us as he seems very credible, plus if they Rebranded and changed the party name to say the BSD (British Social Democrats),returned to the centre to centre left, they could fish out the moderate Blairites and even Centrist liberal Conservatives might be dissolusioned with the May leadership by the next gen election, although much depends on Corbyn, self reflection and humility.
