Ken, thanks for keeping this topic alive while the vote is underway.

I personally would have never gotten “married” if not for financial benefits. My wife and I love and respect each other and don't require a government agency or a religious institution to give us proof of that love.

This "law" isn't and shouldn’t be about religion. It should be about equal rights as seen by our government. If a religious group refuses to marry a gay or interracial couple, that is their right. But our government does not have that right. If a couple desires a civil union or marriage and all the benefits that come with it, they should have it, no matter race, religion, or sexuality.

I was raised in a god fearing, heterosexual family and let me tell you the "family values" had gone down the toilet, back up, and was plungered down again. Homosexuality had nothing to do with it.

Guess what, homosexuality is a normal part of life, maybe just not your life. Or do you think YOUR god screwed up?

And I do care. I know we can't just sit back and say "o'well" when people are stomping on equality for everyone.

My wife and I voted yes on R71. I'll take care of the "family values" in my own home. I don't expect anyone else to do that for me, nor do we want to do that for anyone else.
