Keep your chin up. I lost my job in December. It is hard to keep pushing. Let's you and me promise each other that we will keep a good attitude and work even harder to get work. How about it? Remember -- you are not alone.

Also, if a child is preventing others from learning, kick him out. Then mommy and daddy will have to provide supervision either by staying at home or paying somebody to do it. Most wouldn't want that so they would put pressure on the kid to behave. After a period of time, allow the kid back in to the school. I'll bet parents would have a greater interest in their kids' education after that.

One thing I have not heard a lot of discussion on is the effect of welfare on the soul. We tell people, "you are useless and can't be expected to help yourself." This is the antithesis to the American ideal. This kills initiative. This eliminates personal responsibility. When we eliminate personal responsibility, we, by definition, have to accept poor behavior. Compare an individual of the welfare mentality to your pet dog. We provide food, shelter, comfort, etc. However, on the other hand, we expect good behavior out of our pets. We teach them that soiling the carpet is unacceptable. We expect less from welfare recipients. This is inhuman and degrading to humanity. I agree that welfare, as a nationally funded program, needs to disappear. If local communities provided welfare, standards of behavior could be more easily enforced. Fewer people would lose their souls to the system.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the National Guard is considered part of the U.S. Military establishment only when federalized. Otherwise, it is a function of the state, hence, not controlled by posse comitatus. On the other hand, I believe that the sheer number of people coming in constitutes an invasion from Mexico. Article IV, Section four of the Constitution regarding guarantees to the states reads, "(t)he United States shall . . . protect each of them against invasion . . . " I would not be concerned if the military patrolled the border to prevent further damage.

Yes. I like fair. I have been in a couple of other countries such as Okinawa, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait (which was particularly messy when I saw it) and I agree that I prefer the general cleanliness of the United States. The concern I have with the whole tax thing does, indeed, relate to equity. Right now we have a "progressive tax" in which the wealthy pay a higher percentage. However, the wealthy have more tax break possibilities so, in some cases pay less than they would otherwise. I would like to see "fair" in which a simple plan is laid out and people can easily understand it. The Fair Tax allows for this. Everybody gets an equal "prebate" for their taxes each month equal to the taxes they would expect to pay for "minimum needs." If you buy more than "minimum needs" you pay more taxes. You buy a cheap car, you pay the tax. You buy an expensive car, you pay more tax. Seems fair to me and it covers your desire that the wealthy pay more.

I understand the concept but, in reality, I did not see the names of the potential electors on the ballot. The names were McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden (along with many other parties.) My point is that, if we elect a local person whose judgment we trust, he/she would cast the vote. I believe that vote would be more informed than the people voting directly. As it is now, all of the electors in the state cast their vote for the ticket who won the state. Hence, I voted for the candidate and the "electors" did nothing but go through the motion of "casting their votes" as they were required to. I live in Florida. There are clearly identifiable regions of political power. If we elected an elector from each congressional district and two statewide to account for the senate seats, we would, I think, have a far more reasonable system.

I think we would want to keep the 13th amendment abolishing slavery, for example. There are other good amendments and would not want to pick and choose. If we want to keep the Constitution, we need to keep all of it.

All good except number 10. We give them permission when we elect them. If they have to get permission, why have them there in the first place?

Somebody ask Sheriff Joe Arpaio if he could send a few of his inmates to the border. Then all we need is materials and tools.

Or a Social Security number.
