KABOBfest : Sourian Nationalism Must Overcome (Part 1/4)

It has a better chance if all said countries become true democracies and open up border freeing movement of people and goods. I don't think one political identity is needed, if we have larger "union" entangled economies and porous borers, the current classifications of Palestinian, Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi will fall in importance over time... But of course we have to get to the democracies part first, then figure out a way to resolve Plai-Israel conflict... a democratic one state in Palestine-Israel would be compatible.

KABOBfest : Al Jazeera Drops the Ball on Syria?

A loose alliance i believe, more tactical than strategic. It is grounded in Qatar's ambitions to rise to the status of a major regional player, as such, it sought to be associated with popular Arab movements like Hamas and Hezbollah, quite possibility a fair weather alliance in light of the popularity these parties enjoyed in the past few years. Additionally, Qatar sought to ally it self with governments holding out of the American agenda for the Middle East, which include Iran and Syria, just because they were resistors to a very unpopular United States. It's important to note that Qatar's alliance with the US is far more entrenched, militarily and in trade. So the alliance I was referring to consists of moral support, mediation rounds, and well-fed summits. It is a marriage of convenience that Qatar is not interested in preserving, rather, using it to get a seat on the grown ups table, at which point, the grown ups will be it's allies.
