It would have been nice to have one less Republican in the world,” The day Gabrielle Giffords was shot, a former old friend of mine got on Facebook and vented his anger at that terrible tragedy. Unfortunately, he bought the initial leftist media narrative that the shooter was a TEA party member and spouted all sorts of vile hatred toward the movement, even calling the shooting the "Tea Party murders". When evidence proved the assumption was false, he erased the rants from his Wall. Later, after seeing my posts supportive of the TEA Party, he left a cutting, vulgar message and "unfriended" me, virtually and literally, without ever asking me a direct question about my beliefs.

I don't think you're getting the author's point. He lives in a place where his "type" is not only disliked but reviled by the majority, to the point where he feels he has to keep his "identity" secret for fear of being found out. That feeling can be understood by someone of a different religion, ethnicity or idealogy in comparable situation. The LGBT community does not have a copyright on victimhood.

Mr. Dunetz, if you're trying to use this line and the quote afterward to somehow prove that Mel Gibson is an anti-semite, you're an idiot. The Holocaust was not exclusively a "Jewish experience." Just ask the Russians, Poles, Hungarians, Gypsies, homosexuals, mentally retarded and political prisoners (and anyone else I forgot) that shared in that experience. Oooooh, you can't. Mel Gibson has said some nasty things in the past about Jews, but I wonder which "Jews" is he talking about? Religious Jews? Ethnic Jews? All of them? "Jew" is a messy, generic word that covers a large and diverse group of people. Has anyone asked him to clarify? As for the movie, BatAvner is right about the Maccabee story being topical and relevant, and I will definitely see it.
