WAVY.com : Teacher anoints students with holy oil | wavy.com

Do you know which religion this teacher was espousing? Let's say it was Paganism, do you still approve? Mormonism? Judaism? Catholicism? Where do you draw the line and should everyone else have to live by your decision. The separation of Church and State means we never need to draw the line and we have protection against a State religion or at the extreme the abolition of religion. There is nothing in the article to support the assertion that this teacher was "perfectly good." Given just the facts presented it is possible she was a pretty poor teacher who had turned to Voodoo because she was unable to impart any knowledge.

I wonder, but not about the same things you wonder about. I wonder how you conclude the district does not provide training. Maybe the last sentence was added after you posted. I wonder how any public school teacher could even imagine anointing students in a public school would be even remotely acceptable not only from the point of view of a separation of church and state but also from a purely religious view. This teacher did not consider that it may be considered profane for her to deliver such sacrament whether it was "holy oil" or not. I wonder how you would feel if a uniformed police officer came to your door and asked if you had a few moments to talk about religion and insisted on praying with you.

Big Government : Barack Obama Ignores D-Day Anniversary – Goes to Theatre Party

Jim, were you being sarcastic calling Tutu a "Jew-hater" and then linking to this: “Tutu has certainly been an outspoken, sometimes very harsh critic of Israel and Israeli policies, and has sometimes also used examples which may cross the line,” said Abraham Foxman, the ADL’s national director. But, he added, Tutu “certainly is not an anti-Semite and should not be so characterized and therefore refused a platform.” ... Tutu has condemned suicide terrorism against Israel and recognized the Jewish state’s right to secure boundaries. He has spoken admiringly about the Jewish role in fighting apartheid, though he has also noted Israel’s alliance with the apartheid South African government. He was even honored in 2003 by Yeshiva University’s law school with an award for promoting world peace. What was Obama up to the rest of the day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9WxKMHn6Ss
