I did love the Kinks. I still wonder what happened to all those one hit wonders from the late 50s through the 70s. I think the pop music bizness was more Libertarian than liberal or conservative. Maybe LIbertarianism is closer to Republicans now than before. Low-talents like Bruce Springsteen have "hijacked" the music scene but it's way to late to make a difference.
