Big Government : Dems Defend Etheridge, Attack Breitbart

Yes, but if there wasn't a Congressman involved, and a 20 year old guy went to the police and said that a nearly 70 year old without a weapon was pushing him around, well how hard do you think the police would be laughing?

The Congressman must have mistakenly thought he was in Arizona, where it is okay to demand that anyone show you their papers at any time.

An awful lot of hostility here, but this isn't a rape victim. It is just some 20 year old guy who got pushed around by a 68 year old guy. Which is probably why he doesn't want to show his face.

"Benito Mussolini was a very lazy guy... " Throughout his public life, Reagan believed it was a mistake to equate long work hours with effectiveness. "Show me an executive who works long, hard hours, and I'll show you a bad executive," he said in response to a question about his work habits during the 1980 presidential campaign. As President, Reagan often took Wednesday afternoons off and left the office early on Friday so he could go to Camp David, the presidential retreat. He also spent a total of 345 days of his presidency in California, many of them at his ranch northwest of Santa Barbara. Reagan made light of his work habits—once quipping at a Gridiron Dinner that "it's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure why take the chance?" —but he, his wife, and his aides recognized that he functioned best when he was well rested and not overscheduled. http://millercenter.org/academic/americanpresiden... So, would the author compare Reagan to Mussolini?

Are you suggesting that Obama is seeking to start a world war to try to have the U.S. take over the rest of the world, like Mussolini did? (e.g., you state "as the world teeters toward war") That is a surprising charge, because usually on this site the writers are complaining about how Obama is too timid with foreign leaders, and try to compare him unfavorably to the more belligerent Bush.

I read through this post and its links, and I see no real connection between OFA and ACORN, other than they both use similar software. It is like saying Breitbart and Osama Bin Laden both use microsoft, and therefore are connected.

Big Government : Runaway Census Cost Is Frightening Preview of True Obamacare Price Tag

I wonder if there are other explanations for increased costs. Did they always do the fingerprinting and FBI background checks of census workers they do now? Did they always have to chase people who are hiding from census takers because they have irrational fears of responding to the census? These actions are necessary because a lot of the right wing scare stories out there about the census, but they cost a lot of money to appease these concerns.

Halliburton is found to have overcharged our government all the time -- a lot of money, in the hundreds of millions of dollars. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7201320 By contrast here, the author has alleged overcharges in the census of what, about sixty dollars?

If you went to a private company for training, and they paid you for a full day when the training ended a bit early, would this be a big deal? No, it happens all the time. Now, why don't you run along and go undercover at Halliburton and show us how careful they are with their timesheets. There's a lot more government money there.
