Not really. Imagine that we have free will. If I use my free will to make a story in which free will doesn't exist, then it doesn't... in that story, but the story has no effect on our reality.

Additionally, determinism isn't completely true for the fictional things inside the story as it isn't true for the story itself. The story is an extension of our mind, which, depending what you believe, is either deterministic or not.

That's the funny thing about the determinism vs. free will debate. Even if everything in the universe but one thing is deterministic, the one thing that has free will can change the "destinies" of everything else in the universe making nothing deterministic. So it may be that the characters in the story are bound to the wills and whims of the author, but that doesn't mean their destiny is fixed, rather, their destinies too are bound by the author and if you believe in our free will, then anything can happen in the story.

I don't think you could argue that. If you mean the definition of universe coming from latin (unvorsum "everything affected by one") then maybe but if you mean the scientific definition than the fictional world would have to be governed by unbreakable physical laws which are never true for the author writing the story (who is omnipotent and omnipresent).

An interesting exception, though, is with a fandom. If there are multiple writers of a fiction and what describes the fiction is well defined (candy-colored ponies, magic, races, goddesses etc.), then if you believe that we have free will, our free will extends to our creations because no one author has control over the story and those characteristics which constitute the story can be seen a physical laws. Therefore, the collection of established canon and fanon would create a "universe" so long as no one person attempts to enforce their will upon it.

Ain't = Is not. "Is not that the truth" means "I agree that it is the truth".

I can understand their reasoning. It's not really about "losing all your customers", it's more that if you lose more customers then you gain, then it isn't a good advertisement (from their point of view). They see "more neighs then yays" and see that advertisement as a failure. So they take it down... Still sucks though.

Well I made #41 because of the Legend requirement for yesterday's Artist Training Grounds so they probably came from that if I had to guess :)
