/Film : Judd Apatow's Funny People: The Films of George Simmons

100% agree. I thought all of them were funny in the "wow these are so generic/real that it's scary," but I actually found Sayonara Davey to be genuinely funny. Does that make me a bad person?

/Film : Christopher Nolan Has Still Not Signed For Batman 3

I would rather they never make a Batman film again than not have Nolan direct a third film in the franchise. As mentioned above, TDK was a masterpiece that outweighed even the greatest expectations. I will forever remember the anticipation and build-up that came in the months before it's release and I have never felt more satisfied walking out of a theater. That said, I understand the pressure and obligations that Nolan has, but I would rather the movie come to him than for him to go to the movie. Even after Batman Begins there wasn't any guarantee that Nolan would be back to film a sequel, and just as he is doing with Inception, Nolan directed The Prestige in between Batman films as well. There is so much potential for a third film and the Nolans and Goyer are talented enough that I am sure they can find a compelling story. Since the rumblings began, I have loved the idea of Edward Nigma (The Riddler) being redesigned as a special investigator who is both reassigned to work with the Gotham Police to hunt down Batman and dealing with his own personal need to know who is under the mask. The end of The Dark Knight leaves so much to be explored and I hope that Nolan will find his way back to it.

/Film : First Look: DreamWorks Animation's Oobermind

Doesn't anyone else get the Venture Bros. vibe off of this whole project? I mean, ignoring the fact that this is another example of Dreamworks stepping in a pre-made footprint, but the idea of a villain being lost without a nemesis is the entire plot of the second season of Venture Bros. when The Monarch has defeated Dr. Venture. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

/Film : David Hayter To Adapt Long-Running Zombie Comic Deadworld

I really pray that they don't kill the zombie genre. Things were going so well with about one zombie film a year with Romero occasionally throwing one in. Here is a list of up and coming zombie movies: Breathers Pride and Prejudice and Zombies World War Z Deadworld ...of the Dead Zombieland Deadworld and probably a bunch of others that I can't think of at the moment. The thought of superhero-overexposure has come up a lot, but is anyone else worried that one of the greatest forms of horror left is going to be overdone? That said, one of my most anticipated films of the next few years is Forster's World War Z. I am a huge fan of the book and really want to see what he can do with it.

/Film : Is Harvey Weinstein Asking Tarantino To Cut 40 Minutes From Inglourious Basterds?

I want Sally Menke's cut with Tarantino's oversight. If they can both look at it and decide the pacing is where it needs to be, in spite of or in consideration of length, then that is the cut I will want to watch. There is always the DVD for an extended version.

/Film : Marvel Updates: Bucky in Captain America, Two-Sided Johansson, Another Movie for 2012

I think that The Incredible Hulk was vastly underrated. It could be that I am merely thinking about it in comparison to Ang Lee's Hulk, but I thought the performances were fantastic (particularly by Norton). Also, they did set the film up for a sequel with Tim Blake Nelson having the serum drip onto his head and smiling (his character, Samuel Sterns eventually turns into The Leader)

I second that! Too bad that Mysterio would be considered a "Los Angeles" villain due to Quentin Beck's back story. Personally, I'm putting my chips on The Lizard and either Shocker or Electro. Kingpin doesn't make sense at all not only because of the rights issue, but because it would just be boring. Because of his size, Kingpin is a background character at most and doesn't really work for a feature film (i.e. Daredevil). I've always argued that Electro, Shocker, and Mysterio would make for great cinema because of the pure visual element in their powers and interesting back stories. Shocker could be easily grounded in the real world (small time crook/inventor creates sonic gauntlets) as could Electro (hell, a guy in real life as the power to generate electricity *liveleak . c o m/view?i=4d1e072835*) Looking forward to Raimi making up for SM3

/Film : This Week in DVD: Killshot, New in Town, Powder Blue

I am one of the few people that has gotten to see Killshot, and as a big fan of the book, I really don't understand why the film wasn't given a bigger release. From what I have read, Johnny Knoxville, who played Marshall Ferris Britton, had all of his scenes cut because test screenings thought that his performance single-handedly ruined the film. Thus, cuts and reshoots were done that, as stated above, did seem to hurt the films quality. Outside of that, however, Rourke, Lane, Jane, and especially Gordon-Levitt (who is the best of the bunch IMO) put on great performances in a solid film adaptation. The film is worth seeing.
