Providing your resume is unnecessary, but illustrates and explains your myopic view of the situation. The central issue here is you trying to equate military tactics and rules of engagement to police work in modern day America. It's an apples to oranges comparison.

Shots fired, neighborhood disputes, disorderly subjects, and armed subject calls are relatively common place; even here in little ol' Lane County. If the police (in the US) approached every situation with guns drawn and looking for a deadly force encounter (i.e. creating their own exigency), we'd be in a heap of trouble as a society. Police work here is a marriage of problem solving and people management, coupled with measured and rational application of the law. It is not comparable to an occupation by military force or close quarters combat in a foreign theater of operations.

This isn't Nazi Germany, nor is it Communist Russia. We have this troublesome document called "The Constitution." It extends rights to "the People" and places men and women (sworn police officers) in line to defend and enforce it. The police entering a situation is a use of force in and of itself.

For you to expect and demand a one shot / one kill shooting is simply unrealistic. Which begs the question---Were all kills you experienced and witnessed a one shot / one kill scenario? You scoff at, and mock, two deputies who were simply and honorably trying to do the right thing in a No-Win situation. This debate is a case in point. Your side versus my side versus those who think Jennifer Tucker just needed a hug, some soothing words, and a foot rub.

The police aren't holstering rifles with high velocity rounds that cause extensive damage. They're armed with a .40 or a .45 and whatever people skills they've acquired through life experience. Given your background, I know you're familiar with the difference. Your overall ideals, resume', and experience(s) are things I can respect, but your understanding of modern police work is simply misguided and uninformed.

Thank you for more laughs....A groupie huh? I'm a practitioner. My understanding (from past posts) is you no longer have the right to carry / buy / own firearms. What a tragedy. That bit of information speaks for itself. Those denied firearms are typically members of the following categories: A) Dangers to themselves or others, or B) Felons.....which are you?

My gratitude for your service was not to be sycophantic, but to be genuine. You're an ignorant, uninformed, commoner with no clue. Your posture on this topic represents the worst America has to offer. I would bet your colleagues in the military simply shake their heads and dismiss you when you explore your tangents and spew your nonsense. It's sad.

I've worked beside America's greatest....both in my present occupation, as well as my past. You represent the conspiracy theorists and ignorance that is incapable of being reasoned with. Take your meds...

That bevy of run on sentences was impressive.....Even more impressive was your reference to self in the third person. Trying to reason with you is an exercise in futility. A fluid situation is one that is ever-evolving...though I recognize evolution is probably a term foreign to you. I'll let your drivel stand alone; and those with a little common sense can evaluate its merit and application to the real world. Another suggestion would be to run the spell check...

Do me and the rest of the group a favor and run the situation by your brother-in-law and let us know what he says. Judging by your mindset, I doubt you two are on speaking terms. You're likely the person family members avoid at reunions. I give up on trying to educate you on police work....you're never going to "get it."

On a side note---thank you for your dedicated service to God and Country. I do appreciate that about you.

With all this exposure to law enforcement I would think you'd understand how calls get handled. Police officers have to actually get out of their vehicles and confront problems, rather than hide behind a tree down the road and holler at the miscreant causing problems. They can't handle the call from 100 yards away "hoping" the problem will solve itself and crossing their fingers until it happens. Until you've actually worked a day in a uniform and are sent to a chaotic situation with little or no information to go on, you remain ignorant and naive.

The situation was controlled...as much as a group of tweaking, uncooperative, mouth breathers can be controlled. Ask any person in law enforcement how effective Tasers are during the winter months when people are wearing bulky jackets...The fact that they attempted to resolve this with less lethal means shows exactly how professional and prepared these two deputies were (are). Their fear did not dictate their actions as much as Jennifer Tucker's behavior did...They simply reacted----Why? Because they're well trained and were prepared. You have skillfully provided confirmation that there are clueless people out there who simply talk out of their arse. I didn't know how extensive the problem was until I read the garbage you're so adept at posting.

Deputies exposed themselves to this woman (and friends) because that's how things get resolved. Brave men and women go out every day and deal with people who wish to do them harm. People you would be unable to deal with. Numerous potentially violent situations are resolved in this county every single day by the police....Only a rare occurrence turns into something that offers you an opportunity to blow hot air and expose your stupidity. You must watch Cop shows....Bribes....Corruption....Murder and cover up....You probably think George Bush flew those planes into the World Trade Center Towers.

To think that a deadly force encounter should equate to a one-shot kill (in your world), shows how much of an idiot you are. I suppose in a fluid situation, such as the one these deputies faced, you would have calmly squeezed off one round and hit her in the ten-ring...This despite the darkness of the night at the end of a country road, the foreign terrain, the chaotic scene, and under the most intense adrenalin dump you've ever experienced. You're also probably the kind of shooter who can throw a cowboy hat into the air, and shoot a smiley face through it with your six-shooter before it returns to Earth. God Bless you FancyJack. The rest of us are mere mortals. Now back to reality...and where the adults are talking.

The deputy shot four rounds....all of which hit their intended target. Although the moment probably felt like an eternity to the deputies, it actually took place in an instant. You have the convenience of living in your own fantasy world. You mention there are two types of crooks and then tell me your brother and brother in law are in law enforcement. I would bet with your brand of intelligence, you're not invited to many family functions.

I'll pass on the stroll through life in your shoes....I've got no desire to vacation in Never Never Land.

You're probably someone who also thinks pedophiles are able to be rehabilitated and just made a bad choice in life...

FancyJack: Your abundant ignorance and lack of common sense is the embarrassment here. A Deputy, under going unimaginable stress and involved in a life-changing experience such as this, put all four rounds that he fired into his target. Have you ever experienced stress of that magnitude? I can comfortably assume you have not. You provided enough of a dosage of your drivel (above) that I could reasonably ascertain you're undoubtedly the type of person who runs away screaming when faced with danger. You probably characterize the first responders approaching, and then running past you to square off with that danger, as Pigs and incompetent.

The woman asked to be shot (by her actions) and the Deputy complied....Not because he's a trigger-happy freak, but because he too has a family and wants to go home safe at the culmination of his shift after providing protection to ungrateful morons like yourself.

You might care to take note of this little fun fact: Gun fire stopped once the threat was eliminated. A break down in professionalism would've been for him to empty his magazine, reload, then pour another volley of .45 rounds into her while she lay on the ground helpless, defenseless, and bleeding out. Instead---these professionals were forced to detain two other top notch citizens with frequent flyer numbers in our local criminal justice system, before being afforded the opportunity to render first aid on the very person who'd just threatened them with a gun. Alas--this was the same wounded person they had also sworn to "Serve and Protect." They went above and beyond. Your head is obviously (and thankfully) buried in enough of your own hind quarters to allow me the opportunity to sharpen my hypothesis of your cognitive capability. Complacency, as you suggest, would've been for them to simply not show up to the call in the first place. I'm now aware that your lack of fortitude, courage, and ability to perform under stress would prohibit you from earning a badge and taking an oath. Which is fine---you're one of the sheep that law enforcement protects....not because they have to......but because they are forged of materials and character absolutely foreign to you and your ilk.

Instead, dedicated men (and women) from our local agencies show up to deal with the rabble, recidivists, and trouble-makers, whilst you sit on your couch surfing the internet, checking your Match.com inbox, and spewing your silly nonsense. You're afforded the clarity of hindsight....you're afforded the freedom and bliss of your ignorance....and you're afforded the safety you enjoy in the comfort of your own home while the OUTSTANDING and under-appreciated men and women of EPD, LCSO, SPD, JCPD, and OSP work their tails off to chase bad guys and put them in an under-funded jail. The same jail, undoubtedly, that you've repeatedly said "No" to when tax measures pop up on the local ballots.

You should be ashamed. You embarrass yourself in a public forum and I thank you for that. The opportunity to educate someone who likely lacks the cognitive ability to be educated at any level is thoroughly welcomed on this crisp Friday evening.
