One of them was the fact that the University Presbyterian Church had their main pastor join the positive thinking movement of Robert Schuller at the Crystal Cathedral. It raised a lot of controversy. I never heard the Gospel come out of their TV program. Another was the fact that I had overheard many people say that they would often have events at peopls home or go out somewhere where there was booze. Now a someone with alcoholic tendancies who had just quit could have got hooked again. The church is basically semi-solid with a feel good bent but allowing homosexuals to be part of their active ministry is against God. I think they are preaching another gospel and there will be consequences for this. So if the church does not preach the gospel and believe in that scripture is without error, we should not be surprised. One thing I notice about the charismatic type churches is that they are not so much into disecting what the Bible says but more of a type of church looking for "experiences". Then when these types of pastors come on the scene and a church is looking for these experiential charismatic people, they often get hired. Sometimes these churches often get new members with serious past problems and theese people may not tell the truth or have issues of diussions that make things up even though they believe they are true in their own mind. Sometimes an abused individual from the past is so traumatized, they even imagine this type of thing is still happening to them. But lets be thankful, this individual is not longer at the Missionary Baptist Church.
