Would you rather she sell it to a child? How do you suggest we get these criminals off the street and to stop illegal drug trafficking? Some of your comments are so far off the map, I often wonder if you are one of her customers.

SalisburyPost.com -- Your guide to Rowan, Cabarrus, Davie and Davidson counties, North Carolina : SalisburyPost.com - Area - Duke agreement would raise rates 7 percent

No cost-of-living increase in 2010 for Social Security, no COLA for federal retirees, and Medicare plans will increase, health care premiums will increase, (mine is going up $30.00 per month), gas has gone up 20¢ in the last two weeks and continues to rise, credit card companies want to start charging annual fees again, Duke Power is going up, and the county wants me to vote yes on more tax to allow the thieves who steal to live more comfortably than some of the people they stole from! Check out the prices at the local grocery stores, they have also increased. I am concerned there will be a lot of cold hungry senior citizens this winter.

I agree. David Pearson first, with Cale Yarborough as runner up. There were 51 votes cast. I think the selection process was fair, and I would have voted for four out of the five who made the cut. From the list of nominees I saw there were some though choices to make.

The handicap parking is a sore spot with me for WalMart and Food Lion. Too many times I have found not one but several shopping carts left in the space. Not the part beside or in front of the space, but in the space. Because I was transporting someone in a wheelchair, I had to stop, get out of the car move three shopping carts, get back in the car and drive in the space. This has happen on several occasions at WalMart and Food Lion stores. I think anyone who leaves a shopping cart in a handicap space should face the same penalty as someone parking illegally in the space. As for the new inside, I like what I have seen so far.

SalisburyPost.com -- Your guide to Rowan, Cabarrus, Davie and Davidson counties, North Carolina : SalisburyPost.com - Area - Landis draws up graffiti ordinance

The best solution is to catch the ones who created the graffiti and cut off their hands. It would be difficult to deface other people’s property with no hands. And if they learn to draw with their feet, cut off the feet. Of course you realize this is an exaggeration and speaking metaphorically. Catch the ones vandalizing the property and punish them severely. Make them pay for the cleaning. If they are juveniles, hold the parents financially accountable. It is ludicrous to penalize the property owner for the criminal actions of others. There are some excellent suggestions here (on the thread) of how the situation could be handled. The town board's suggestion of making the property owner pay for clean up, is not one of them.

Maybe there should be a law anyone who owns an animal who has to be euthanized because the animal was not current on its rabies shots, would be prohibited from owning any future pets or face heavy fines if caught with pets on their property. Not keeping your pets up to date on vaccinations can endanger the animal, the owners, as well as anyone who comes on the property.

Expressing outrage over an animal being shot does not diminish the significance of a story about two officers being shot. If the story of the horses had occurred in Winston Salem, it is doubtful we would have this much attention given to the shooting in the Salisbury Post. Just as if the two officers had been in Rowan County, the attention would certainly out weigh what we have seen about the horses. There can be outrage over both events without drawing a parallel between the two.

Am I the only one having problems with the post here? I will click on an article I know has comments and be greeted with the message there are no comments. I will click on the link under the latest comments and get the same message. I can refresh and sometimes I can see the posted comments and most times not. I can navigate away from the site, come back and see the comments. There is no pattern. This happens in all browsers and cache is cleared and I am logged in. Does anyone else encounter problems with this board?

I do not know if the Chambers are related, but this is not the first time Civil Rights Activist John C. Barnette, has been at the side of a Chambers in trouble.
SalisburyPost.com -- Your guide to Rowan, Cabarrus, Davie and Davidson counties, North Carolina : SalisburyPost.com - Area - Handguns stolen in Spencer

I know, and most people reading this article know, Dunn’s Mt. Rd. is in Granite Quarry and not Spencer. We also understand the guns were not taken from the residence in Spencer. But, a hundred years from now, to someone working on their genealogy or doing a history report, sloppy reporting like this becomes a nightmare. I also know some will say in a hundred years an episode as trivial as this will not make any difference. I have been to the library and read abstracts from newspapers for 100 years back, I hope the reporting then was more accurate then what we’ve read in this article. I hope the Salisbury Post will renew their mission to strive for accuracy in reporting even the most insignificant articles. Of course to the person who had their guns stolen, I am sure it is not insignificant.

Is it possible John C. Barnette was involved with the video production company filming at the LaBamba Club where the incident occurred? It has been whispered rumors the officer involved was set up and only select portions of the incident were filmed. Could Mr. Barnette have orchestrated this with plans to follow up with a self promotion of his civil rights organization and image. This is only speculation, and not an accusation. I would hope anyone wanting to promote justice, would want justice for blacks, whites, Hispanics, and anyone else who has been treated unfairly. Promoting justice for one group is unfair, and biased.

SalisburyPost.com -- Your guide to Rowan, Cabarrus, Davie and Davidson counties, North Carolina : SalisburyPost.com - Opinion - Online debate: Illegal immigrants and college

Will the community colleges soon be required to make sure the courses are offered in the language of the illegal immigrant? This could be one or more of thousands of languages, This would mean hiring instructors skilled in speaking the language of the illegal person enrolled in the course. More money spent. To scoff and say the idea is far fetched, I would have thought allowing an illegal immigrant admission would never happen. If the person wants to take part in the privileges of the citizens, I think they should become a citizen, and then every effort should be made to help them. Until then by supporting someone breaking the law, we are only feeding the wolves.
