Really, really late to this party, but I had to comment. This is, quite possibly, the best commentary on the nature of SIN that I've ever heard, and I was a theology scholar, and attend church on a regular basis.
Thank you for your words. I WILL be quoting you in the future.

So in the ignorant words of Rumour (which doesn't need logic, and moves faster than Facts because it's not burdened by context or explanation),...

Wow, what a brilliant way of stating this. Life truth, right here. I almost want to put this sentiment on a poster or something. Definitely teaching my kid this (when it is age appropriate).

Very, very late to the party.
According to a quick Google translate, the German (Uberwaldian?) phrase, "Ich kann mich nicht genau erinnern, aber es war so etwas wie eine Vanillehaltige süsse Nachspeisenbeigabe" translates to "I can not remember exactly, but it was something like a vanilla sweet dessert."

So late to this party. However, I do need to add this.
I bought this book before I ever had a kid. It made me laugh so hard, I had tears streaming down my cheeks. I have read this book out loud so many times since then, both to daycare kids who love absurd books, and to my own child, who has come to accept that Mummy Reads Weird Books.
I still cannot get through this book aloud without giggling uncontrollably.
Kudos, Mark, for getting through it with a mostly straight face. I don't think I'll ever be able to.

Me too. Also, I picked Where's My Cow for my child's bedtime story tonight.

Re: the piccolo hornpipe
I don't know if it's a specific reference, but in my musical experience (30 years of piano lessons, 6 years of band, 20+ years of choral singing, university music courses, and a love for classical music) a requiem is somber, generally slower, and more emphasis placed on lower, grounding instruments. A piccolo is high, generally shrill and airy, and a hornpipe is very fast.
So, all that to say what Angua is sensing DEFINITELY DOES NOT BELONG. (picture a sugared-up child in a tutu dancing through a state funeral.)

"Where's My Cow" is absolutely one of my favourite children's books, and I cannot get through it without howling with laughter. My kid can't understand me through the giggles, and doesn't quite get why it's so funny. He will, though, one day.....

Do you think Sebastian would be willing to post his lyrics? I'm hard of hearing, and the lyrics can be a bit unclear sometimes. I can't find them online anywhere, and I'd love to learn the song, with his permission.

Thanks for the link to this song. I have been listening to this for hours.

May I just say that anyone that thinks that the phrase "in as much danger as [they] would be in a class of five-year-olds" means "absolutely no danger at all" has obviously never spent any time in a room full of 5-year-olds.
Sincerely, a preschool teacher.
