Yeah, this is the episode I finally realized that the Evangelions were their own beings and not just robots. How the hell I managed to miss it until this point when I first watched I have no idea. Also fun fact: I had mixed up the battles of this and the last Angel in my mind so I thought while rewatching that THIS was the bloody gross fight and the possessed EVA one was just emotionally bad.
