Yes, I agree with Liz. Great portrayal of emotions I am envious John, of your ability to draw your characters from different angles. That is one thing I struggle with. Nice work mate.

Like the new shading technique John. Also enjoying this issue very much so far. Look forward to seeing the redraw of issue 2 and being able to purchase it in print. If you do redraw issue 1 then I guess the version I purchased (the original) will become something of a collectors item in the future when Sunrise goes big :-)

Also forgot to add that your attention to detail is excellent. A lesser cartoonist would have mistakenly gotten the chess board squares around the wrong way.

Hi John, I like this style best. Less shading and more clean drawn lines. Simple black and white. Its very effective. Not sure about the type font thought. Found it easy to read your other font. I find im focussing on trying to read the text without actually taking it in. But love the simple art style - and love the second frame of page 1. Nice angle.

Sunrise : Playing Favorites

Hmmm .. interesting reading John. My favourite is still Raven :-) He is the man. Whether you like it or not, he has become the hero of your comic strip, not sure if you planned it that way. Although you say he is not very interesting, I actually find him more human than some of the other characters. He is not perfect and has his faults, but he is a good guy and has that good guy all round hero feel to him ... which is why he is my favourite character.

Yep, remember this very well indeed. My first job out of school in the mid eighties was working with film in the printing industry. As an apprentice one of my tasks was to empty and clean the developer and fixer trays at the end of each week. It was pretty toxic work actually. Brings back some memories.

Sunrise : The Guidebook is Here

Hi John, The guidebook is a great idea. I didn't realise how much larger the Arkenaten is than the Stradivarian class ship until I veiwed the guidebook. However, I base this statement on passenger capacity alone. Will you be stating the size or weight of the ships? Cheers, Paul.

How would they dock the plane though? There is an assumption here that (a) the stranded airship has a dock (b) if it does have a dock, that the dock is empty. Just my two cents.

Sunrise : Regarding Paper Editions

Hi John, I would prefer to purchase your episodes as single comics. And certainly DO NOT rewrite the first episode! Have you ever read Tintin in the Land of the Soviets? The artwork of Herge's first TinTin book were pretty ordinary compared to what he produced later, but that is what makes it such a collectible. Asterix is another good example. In "Asterix The Gaul' the characters look different to how they end up looking. I say leave Issue 1 as it is - the original thing! To redraw it would be sacrilege! Why not provide the episodes as individual comics and then also as compilations. I prefer individual, however compilations will suit those who cannot afford to purchase them individually. Looking forward to episode four. Regards, Paul.
