KATU - Portland, OR : Snow removal - is it going well or not so well? | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

I completely understand the strains this exceptional level of snowfall puts on the city. But.... We're in the NW hills area and none of the side streets have been plowed. That's fine if the trucks are running around clearing more important streets. Unfortunately, every day as I came home from work I saw the trucks sitting at the corner of Cornell and Skyline either waiting on more snow or waiting for the commuter traffic to cease. Why not use that time to go through a few of the local side streets? Especially the areas leading to stop signs that run into Skyline. I know in our neighborhood, we've slid into Skyline every single morning. Couldn't they at least toss a handful of sand at the stop signs? Why not load a truck with inmates from the county pen, shovels and sand and start clearing all the stopping areas leading onto the major roads?
