she's never spoken publicly about her political views, but from past interviews/appearances she's been pretty vocal about LGBT rights and women's rights.....and from what I've gathered, 'registered Republican' =/= auto- voting for Mittens's brand of stupid (or Sarah Palin's, last time). Can I just say how much I LOVE that Buffy chose to name herself 'Joan'? I mean, if you have to have your memory wiped and pick yourself a new name, you could do worse than name yourself after a gender-trope-defying peasant girl who led her people in an uprising against foreign rule.....even if her life ended via (successful) burning at the stake. (also, I suppose Boadicea is a bit TOO elaborate for someone to come up with on the spur of the moment)

Xander picks up the necklace - says "Lord of the Dance" and invokes him. There is a moment of waiting, but nothing happens. So we all saw it happen but it was such a tiny bit - Joss is a master at creating and drawing in bits from other episodes.I assume that while it was in the Magic Box, nothing happened, but once Dawn stole it - it was no longer protected by whatever spells keep the magic in the shop from going wonky. <img src="http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4o2mfuNjp1qii6tmo1_400.gif" /> (no really, I am IN AWE of you, and Joss, and everything about this show)

It made sense to me because Buffy was relying on being able to trick the portal into closing - the fact that the monks used her as the DNA blueprint to create Dawn (one daughter of Hank and Joyce Summers, another daughter of Hank and Joyce Summers) was what let her do it, and that worked for me. Joss does fall into Plot Hole territory on Buffy, but I really don't think this is an instance of him doing so.
