I think you don't understand the facts. The guy had carved in public for years and years every cop in the area knew him except for this one. The guy had his back to the cop so he couldn't see that he was about to be shot by a trigger happy chicken. It was the cop who walked up to him with gun drawn from the moment he got out of the car but he didn't bother to call for backup even though he was so scared of the little knife he was almost wetting himself. The guy had 4 seconds to respond 7 seconds from the time the cop yell the first "hey, hey, hey"

But ya from what I'm hearing from cops they have a license to kill even if they are wrong or at least people like you seem to think so.

From the way you are writing you know nothing what so ever about the Eastlake Project because if you did you would know that people are getting well because of it. No one with 2 brain cells call it the "Corpse Farm" or anything like that because it does work.

I read that an EMT said she saw an open knife but I also read the testmony of the homoside detective who said he found a second knife ALSO closed falling out of his coat pocket. So as I understand it two knives were found both closed and one person out of all the people who where there said they saw an open knife.

I don't know that having mental problems had become a capital offense, but I guess it has.

Also where is a homeless, mentally ill person suppose to deficated?

BTW he ordered him to PUT the knife down. So it sounds like he was bending to put it down rather then dropping it and damaging his property. Guess he never thought he would be murdered for it.

My big question is should a man with this bad of judgment ever be allowed to be a police officer and "protect" people the way he "protected" John?

Birk is way to much of a coward and way to fast with a gun to ever be allowed to carry one again.

Though I'm not sure this is criminal (a jury should decide) it is clear Birk isn't cut out to be an officer.

Come on why didn't he follow his training and keep the car between him and the dangerous man? I keep hearing how he followed training and murder John but why didn't he follow his training and keep something between them and call for back up?

This comes down to was killing John the only thing he could do.

I think he was a cowboy. He got out of the car and did nothing to protect himself like say standing with the car between him and John. Then when he got close enough to clam self defense he killed John. Figuring there are enough people like you who wouldn't see him as a brother, a son, a talented artist minding his own business doing a carving to support himself but would only see a bum who no one would care if he got dead.

He didn't kill a bum he killed a man.

Okay I've been reading all the articles where did you get the "Stabbing cars in a parking lot near by"? I have never read that any where.

If the cop couldn't even see the knife why did he need to kill him? He would have been of no threat until the knife was pointed toward him.

Sounds like all the fear was in the chicken cop's head or he was just looking for an excuse to kill a scary street person.

To tell the truth I'm more scared of a trigger happy cop who tries to shoot people in the back then I am of a 3 inch knife. Yes 7 seconds for the first hey to the first shoot is trigger happy.

Where in the world did you hear John was "Stabbing cars in a parking lot near by"? The man was carving and is a carver. I have read everything I can find and have never heard anything about him doing anything with the knife other then carving a board.

I would love to see you react in 3 seconds to someone yelling at you and NOT even identifying as a cop. Especially when you had your back to them and ended up shot in the side NOT the front.
